Review: Works on 5800 by EPvW

I tested it on my 5800 xpressmusic and works just fine.
really cool app but it needs some work for a touche phone like the 5800.
it would be easyer of you could just double click the icons.
now you have to move from icon to icon with arrows

Comment: @Druki by greuet for Suggestion: Suggestions

Thank you for your detailed and numerous improvement recommendations.

We wanted to implement already some of the improvements you suggested.
However, our first intention was to keep the application as light and easy to use as possible.
A next version will certainly contain more features.

About suggestion 4, you can already stop the sound by pressing the Option --> stop.
This should stop all the playing music.

Thank you again. :-)

Comment: Suggestions of an audio engineer by druki for Suggestion: Suggestions

Some suggestions to make it even better (1-6 are my favourites, the rest would be nice to have):

1. As I have noticed it can play different sounds at the same time (depending on the processor of the mobile), it would be great to have different play modes for each key:
a) one shot (the sample ist played once from beginnig to end)
b) note (the sample plays as long as you press the button, like on a synthesizer)
c) toggle (first press starts the sample, second press stops it)

2. Aditionally it could have a "loop"-function, which starts the sample again when reaching the end in playmode b) and c)

(1+2 could be done with checkboxes at each button setting - one selectable out of five)

3. Save the settings of all buttons as different named and loadable preset-files would be very usefull.

4. when setting a sound for a button, there should be a extra button for playing/stoping the selected sound (actually it allways plays the whole soundfile, thats anoying if the soundfile has a long duration)

5. Instead of pictures (or alternative) I would prefer fextfields (i.e. to enter numbers or 5-6 characters for each button)

6. I would apreciate an adaption for my 5500 Sport-Display (208x208)

7. Groupable buttons so only one sound of a group can play. Explanation: A variable (one cachacter) could be set for each button. If a sound is triggered during a sound with the same variable is still playing, the first sound stopps. The button "0" could be used as a general stopper without a sound (but with setable variable)

8. adjustment of the volume of each button to let different sounds fit better together.

9. special effects for the buttons like:
a) reverse play of the soundfile
b) time stretch (for adapting tempo of music)
c) pitch shift (for adapting pitch of music or sounds)

------------
Thanks again for this great tool!

Review: Great! I want more! by druki

Searched everywhere for such a tool (sampleplayer) - finally found this one! There is nothing like this in the net. I love it. It runs on my 5500 Sport (but my display is not large enough).

I use it for triggering sound-effects for fun, but could also imagine to use it as a DJ-tool (connected to a PA-set) or use it as a "horn" in a busy pedestrian area ;-)
Also possible: As a simple music instrument with different pitches

Comment: @ vishesh,
Thank you for by greuet for Suggestion: Suggestions

@ vishesh,
Thank you for your comments.

1- Phone asking you to "Read User Data", have you checked that you downloaded and saved both the .jad and .jar files into your mobile?
Once those files are saved on your mobile phone, you should start the installation by using the .jad file.

2. Set as Ringing tone option, this could be added as an option in a future release. Remember that you can record your own sounds using the "Recorder" application of your phone.

3- An S40 version is available at the same location as the S60 version. Your sister can use it on her mobile too. :-)

4- About Silent mode. The sound of all applications are switched off when you are in Silent mode.
Audio Smileys is considered as any other applications. Switching its sound "On" might be difficult as it certainly violates other rules of the SW.

Comment: Set as ringtone by vishesh for Suggestion: Suggestions

My dad has fallen in love with the app and is especially loving the sounds of wolf and the heart. He suggested me to set the the heart sound as ringtone. I said I cann't. He suggested me to record the sound through recorder of other phones. I said instead of this whole mess, I can surely suggest this to betalabs team. Here is my suggestion:
Give us an option to set the sound as our message, mail or ringing tone from the app itself and not searching the file from file manager and then set this as ringing tone. Through this the originality of the sounds of audio smiley can be preserved and no one can transfer the sounds to another phone via bluetooth or infrared. It will be great fun to set the sounds like that of wolf as the ringing tone.

My sister was asking about having the app on her S40 while I was introducing the app to my dad. So why not try to play the sounds via bluetooth or infrared on others mobile phones and give us a chance to play the sounds and share them with our friends. Also introduce the app for S40 devices like you have done with Contacts On Ovi application

Comment: Many more crashes by vishesh for Bugreport: Application Crashes...

I also experienced a few bit of crashes that I am listing down.
1. I started the Audio Smiley app. Then by holding down the menu key went to standby then to menu and launched the front camera app, then I again switched to the smiley app by holding the menu key, and after playing a sound, Again switched to front camera appliction, but when I again tried to switch to smiley app by holding the menu key, I didn't find any icon of Audio smiley. The same happened when I was multitasking between Audio Smiley app and watching a video and next time reading a adobe reader file and audio smiley. S60 is made for multitasking, but what will be its benefit when audio smiley icon gets removed from the option to switch between different apps. Is it the ram issue of N73?? But I didn't notice like this with other apps.
2. I started the app, went to settings, then tried to change the smiley icon, app asked me-"Read user data?" I said no, then application became unresponsive, and a blank screen appeared where no data was shown to me, and I didn't had any option to switch back or exit, then I pressed the red button to move to the standby and then hold menu button and press C on Audio Smiley icon.
