Symbian S60 upgradable; FP upgradable?

I wonder if it will ever be possible to upgrade the existing S60 version to a higher degree.
And or what about the Feature Pack upgrade?
In my case I am talking about a N82 model.

Is it technically impossible or is it a company's policy that decides on this?

It a company's policy that decides on this. They can do this with a firmware upgrade but they won't. e71 is FP1 but AT&T e71 is FP2. I too have n82 and would love to see this happen, but i don't believe it's going to. :(
