This is a great app, which deserves to graduate, but before it does it needs to be tested on the latest Operating System - i.e. S60 5th Edition.
Developers, can you please comment on:
a. Why you have not yet created a version for S60 5th,
b. When you plan to do so or
c. If not, When this functionality will graduate and be included in S60 5th

Now I have my N97 I've set everything up and retired my N95 8Gb. So many unsupported apps, although this might be a good thing due to the limited ROM on the N97 when compared with the N95 8Gb. What's that all about.

this is the single most useful app i put on my n95 and i hope with all the others here that we will se an incarnation of conversation on the 5ed op soon. And yeah it should integrate with ovi both for the conacts part and the suite for backing up messages. So I just downloaded iSMS and tried it out on my N97. It works pretty good aside from the scrolling which isn't kinetic. It got me thinking however and Nokia, please listen closely. Take the threaded SMS that you have in the Ovi Suite Beta 2 and bring it to Symbian 5th Edition. That's all we ask.
Now as for specifics on it, should you finally get to it, here's what I recommend. Same layout as in Ovi Suite Beta 2.0. Opening the application should bring you to a screen showing all the people you've contacted via MMS/SMS. Then tapping a person brings you to the conversation thread. Now, this is important. I would like for the application to have kinetic scrolling, and the ability to tap and hold on a message in the thread, which would bring up a menu right there with the options Forward, Delete, Copy Text, Call. The bottom of the application should have the buttons Options, Reply, and Back. The options menu would pretty much combine the options menu currently in messaging's inbox screen (for the options menu in the main screen of the application) as well as in the one in a message you're viewing (for the options menu in a thread). as well as letting you access a settings menu. Also, the ability to press the call key while in a thread, and have it call the person would be great too. Thanks.

Finally had a look at the N900 and it has a conversation for SMS.... why is nokia letting down adopters of N97. Should i have known that they would stick in a phone module in the tablet series, i would hae stayed away from n97....

Nokia Sports Tracker is soon to become something more like Sports Tracker by Sports Tracking Technologies. The new company is a the child of the two main developers of Nokia Sports Tracker which Nokia has agreed to hand over to them. The only dicussued Nokia inhouse resultant of Sports Tracker will be a new extension to Nokia Maps.
According to Sports Tracking Technologies Sports Tracker will live on, but with Nokia removed from the name, or at least this is my understanding from what is being said. There may even be changes and improvements around the corner, but the transitions needs to complete first. Hopefully we'll all know more by the end of this year/early next.

i finally updated from my n95 to my n97 but i miss the conversations app that i had on my n95 so i was hopping that the n97 had this app already integrated since its really demanding, but its not so when is this app going to become available? Because its really neede.
just wondering if you managed to to get any updates on a conversation app for s60v5?? its not really on that there is no news from nokia and this thread has been open for over half a year. i bought my n97 mini assuming there would be an app available. hmm.
i dont understand why its so difficult to have an app like this anyway, a lot of phones have similar applications as standard. i hate having to always save as draft and recheck what messages say.
or does anybody know any third party applications which have similar functions?

Finally, I have decided to install the v3 version on my Nokia 5230 to test it. It work but not completely (I can't click on people to enter, I must go to Options/Open for example). I can't have the complete message etc etc.
It sad that Nokia doesn't care about this application. Others competitors have this feature on their new phones (like iphone), and it would be a must have when we purchase your phone. It's already the case for the N900. Now we need it on Symbian v^1.
By the way, It could be useful to add mail to conversations.

It is nearly 2 months since markow76 (John - Community Facilitator @ Beta Labs) posted a message that he will try to get an update.
I am of the impression that if there was a version being developed for 5th edition we would have got an update from him... Somebody not replying suggests that there is nothing in the pipeline and Nokia wants us to wait indefinitely thinking we might get it someday..
Time to get a phone that works.

N97 can already do this. Go to Messaging - Options - Settings - Other - Show messages in groups - Yes. Then go to your inbox, select options and choose sort by sender. Ok you have to change the sort filter each time you open the inbox, but its minor annoyance compared to the constant crashes/restarts/firmware not being fit for purpose. Hope this helps.

I wanted to try this app on my n97 but when I wanted to download the app there was not any supporting files for the n97/S60 5th edition. So if nokia beta labs would try to make one that supports the S60 5th edition, then I think a lot of n97 users would apprecaite it. I believe apps like this one should be integrated into the nokia handsets especially, the touch screen ones. Looking forward to seeing this app for the S60 5th edition phones.

This is something we've been asking for for many months now. I think the app may be close to retirement as it has not been updated since december 2008.
I would love to see this updated and added to the S60v5 catalogue of apps, but based on the length of the quiet period I think it's closer to archive than update.

Just today I've seen three videos about the new Nokia phones (C3 C5 E6) wjich mentioned "Threaded sms" feature.
Which basically means that Nokia engineeres thought about developing the feature for the next version of Symbian and sadly they've forgotten about the 5th version of the old system.

The app was last updated in december 2008 - hence the silence - I do believe it is actually in development anymore. Probably because they are planning for it to be standard in the newer versions of symbian.

I second this requirement. Quick Office is a headache when it asks us to buy PDF viewer for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Nokia should have given that viewer as an in-built feature for the phone.
We require PDF viewer application for FREE as the most desirable thing on phone. PDF documents are widely used and distributed documents.

Should work with all Nokia devices based on S60 3rd Edition (see devices). We recommend you to use the latest software available for your device (see Nokia Software Update).
As written in the overview it is not yet supported on S60 5th edition. Let`s just hope it will be soon!

Why conversation view is not built in the phone, there should be no need of any application to do this. Iphone has it built in, why nokia is too lazy to integrate it in the symbian os.

forget it people. stop putting your hopes on nokia. just in my personal opinion, nokia has one of the worst customer services among all their very strong competitors. stop wasting your time flooding this post with all your similar comments. after so many suggestions and feedbacks, nokia did not even bother to reply. after the iphone 4 launches, it will really change everything, all over again. there's a video in apple's youtube channel where even the developers says its so hard to develop for other platforms because of the phone's speed(in my case n97 mini 128mb wow thats "a lot") and other stuffs.
i haved changed many phones in my whole life and i've always been faithful to nokia. but it as let me down time and time again. im disappointed.
customer service has nothing to do with betalabs, betalabs is a lab where nokia users can if they want test exprimental ofbeat (in some cases) software and services..... What bugs us is that nobody have bothered to comment on what seems to be a lasting request, which of course brings me to the next to points... Why do you waste your time reading,following,and commenting at the betalabs if you think it's pointless? The point of not giving up on this thread is to show therer is a genuine lasting request for this app and that might just do something one way or another. Also if the project was dead it would be archived. And last I know developers read these post even though they not always answers.... So thanks for wasting my time typing this.

It's very much a lasting request, and something that's included automatically on the N8 running Symbian 3, so it shouldn't be too hard to put it on Symbian 1 models. Personally I'd like to see the integrated Inbox from Symbian 3 and Conversations mode moved over here in a brand new messaging application for us to try out.
Even the new C5 has it included in contactlist.. :(

Tested on N97 firmware version v21.0.102 - the tab appears in tabs but gives an error message. Also refuses to uninstall properly, saying that "files cannot be deleted"

Maybe You will do this application for S60v5 phones? In this products this app is missed
from a newbie.. have seen this feature in Sony-Ericsson phones and it rocks. I've heard that symbian is open source now.. so is it possible for any third party developer to take this up and modify to use for S60v5?
The lack of support from nokia on threaded sms conversations is really disapointg, even cheap chinese phones support threaded sms. come on nokia, you already have the app, just make it compatible for 5530/5800/N97...

I am also interested in a VoIP program for Nokia 5800 XM. I do not really understand why this phone does not have this one.
It has a 30% done, SIP protocol, Nokia only needs upgrade the 80%.
Fring, Talkonaut™ is only useful for private connections.

you sould download SIP_VoIP_3_0_Settings from http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/96a9f0f2-b577-4493-9182-..., it will make the bridge between the phone and sip parameters and you should connect the phone for example to Asterisk. With my n97 it worked good.

NOKIA Customer service: is that difficult to make an update to integrate VoIP settings to 5800 & 5230 ?? I sent an email more than three months ago about this issue and have no reply... I think maybe I should buy another phone instead of waiting...
