Suggestion for Conversation

The Conversations app. is my most used application on the phone. I have some suggestions:

* Conversation: Show the whole message instead only the very few words. It should be more like a chat. Take a look at the great interface of Windows Live for S60.

* Mark read: Why do I have to open each message to mark it read? If you implement he full message view, it should be marked read automattically when one brings up the conversation.

* Font type/size: To make full messages viewable the font is far to big. Please make more options available.

* Replace existing SMS app: can you make this app default?

* Show conversation app when new message arrives

* Hide reply-box until one starts typing to reply. This way we gain more space to view whole messages and much cleaner look.

* Skin support: I would love to sea the iphone bubble view.

Please take a look at the implementation of threaded sms conversations on the iphone, it very well done.

Agree with most of your points!

1. Unless full message view is added, cannot switch to this app full time.

2. Does it really need an explanation? Commong Nokia, you guys have yourself been wanting it! Succumb to the dark side of the force :P

3. Yeah, not to mention smaller font sizes look cooler too!

4. This can be done. I have used other SMS apps take over from S60's default messaging app. Though please provide it only as an option to those who need it, i dont :) Should not completely replace the default messaging app. We need to timeline view. So for this effect, there needs to be a lot of work required to merge the two concepts.

5. Already dealt with.

6. Not bad. Show the reply box as soon as the user starts typing, or presses the down key after reaching the bottom of the threaded view.

7. Entirely an indulgence once the functionality and usage problems have been fixed.

Sorry, but I disagree with most of this. The interface is better for me as it is.
1. I prefer to see 1 line per message. Message scrolling is fine to see the rest.
2. OK Am agnostic on this.
3. Current font is fine by me. Smaller wd b too small.
4. I would prefer to have both ways of looking at messages, as now.
5. Yea - OK with this as an option for those who want it.
6. Definitely not. I like to see the reply box and be able to start typing my reply straight into it. This is one of the benefits of this app.
7. Have no interest in skins - I care about how the phone works, and its ergonomics.

I fully agree with you Schrijver! Those suggestions should be musts. I'm really hoping that this application will get update..

Would be nice to get these improvements. Escecally the ability to hace conversation open instead of messaging when a new message is received. and maybe a standby app like Share Online.

@milan2884: When I read my post again, I see no part of the post in which I state or imply that it is an idea that has come out of my head. But if you really want to be so pedantic may I suggest that you always read all the posts previously made within the forums as you have duplicated a number of existing suggestions and comments since joining the forum without quoting, in some places the numerous previous posts being duplicated.

I appolgies to you for not pointing to you as the sole originator of this most excellent idea. I thought we were looking to get impovements and not credit. Do the Nokia Conversation Development Team need to add you to the developers list if they add this functionality and are you requiring royalties?

I read all the previous suggestions. No one else commented on the fact that share online has a plugin and the fact that it's not that widely used ase messages. And if you look in the forum you can see that in the past 2 months there were no suggestions about this app. I'm not looking for credit,cause, ofcourse, i too used other peoples idea. I just wanted to renew this suggestions so that people can show interest in these ideas and by that showing the beta labs team that we are serious about them. We all should support these ideas giving our wote, instead of creating new slightly changed suggestion. That's my point. Better to have one suggestion that 100 people are supporting, then 50 suggestions that are basiclly the same, that 1 or 2 people support.

If you have seen my previous posts within the forums you will notice that I see no reason for ducplication of threads for no reason. The reason I mentioned my support for the use of a standby app as well as the ability for conversation to take over from messaging was because this thread is more of a conglomeration of ideas for conversation, so if the Nokia Dev Team read this thread I though this idea should be included.
