Nice GUI but . . . Information questionable in places

The app does have a nice GUI, but the information provided is questionable in places.

Living in Leicester, in the Middle of the UK I was surprised to see all the venues showing in the south on the start page and it alsu showing Dunstable in Uinted States on the start page too.

The app has promise, but for now it's been uninstalled on my N97 as space is at a premium.

Thanks for your feedback, from first time usage we should get better results later, because we time to build your music profile and then give better suggestions for you.

Also we try to learn, how you use it, as an example if you favor some venues over the others

How about setting Gig Finder to read you Music Library on your phone to use this as guidance to your music taste and preferences. If you have the music on your phone then you must like it. That would be a nice touch.

An extension of this would be the user being able to be playing an album in Music Player and click on options and select find gig and be ported directly into a Gig Finder search results.

Any chance you guys know anyone linked to the music team as the Music Player app has been deperately in need of a betalabs update/replacement for a long long long time. So much stress seams to be being placed on Images and not enough on music. The app has always been missing some major functionality provided in EVERY other music player on the market.

1. N97 has 32GB memory... install the app to the mem card/or non phone memory. Its not a mem hog.
2. The recommendations actually does check your music libary to help have better suggested content.
3. Please be specific about what improvements you would like to see in the music player and what is available elsewhere that is not in our music player. (Hint: Check OPTIONS in the music player to see additional opps)

Thanks for our responses,

1) I dd have Gig Finder on the E: drive (Mass Memory) as I have to do this whenever possible due to the pittyful C: drive on the N97. I removed it as do this with any app that that I am not expecting to get use out of. It becomes force of habit with the N97, in comparison to my old N95 8GB when you could leave them on. I appologies if I implied that it took space from the C: drive.

2) If "on phone" Music Library checking is already included in Gig Finder I appologies for suggesting its incorporation as I was not aware. When I went to the suggestions screen I was presented with a number of artists not in my Library and thus assumed checking was not done.

3) Appologies for not expanding on my issues with the Nokia Music Player mobile client, but I did not want to go too far off subject as this Forum is related to the Gig Finder and not the Music Player. I was merely trying to get a contact or route of contact re Music Player. Some of the issues I was referring to are as follows:

a) No option to play multiple albums in album, track order (i.e. select "artist" with multiple albums and then select "play all". Tracks then played in Album, Disc Number, track order)
b) Support for multiple Disc Albums. Presently the mobile client does not support "Disc Number"".
c) Music Player does not support the Album Artist field, used when there are multiple artists on tracks on the album of a single artists. This tidies up the Artist view.
d) Music Player does not support "Compilation" albums as is done with the iPod and iTunes so that track artists do not mess up the Artists view when Compilations albums are on the device.
There are other issues too, but these are the main ones for me and many others.

RE: "OPTIONS" Not meaning to be rude in a ny way, I am fully aware of the options menu having been using Music Player on Nokia devices for a number of years. I had already checked the Options menu within Music Player hoping to find "Settings", but this was in vain. OPTIONS was the first place I looked.

As you referrenced to Music Player as "our music player" does this mean you are a member of the Music Player team and/or a Nokia employee. Looks like you need the Beta Labs team to provide you with an Employee Symbol.

I live in Leicester in the United Kingdom. Now I know some say it's a small world, but at the top of teh suggestions list it shows "Live at the Marquee", Docklands, Cork, United Kingdom (I assume this is Cork, in Ireland and NOT in the United Kingdom) which is shown as 3 miles away. The remainder of the list looks better as I have De Montfort Hall, Leicester, United Kingdom as 3 miles away and The Musician, Leicester as 3 miles away follwowed by Donnington Park , Castle Donnington, Derby, UK as 17 miles. These distance are perfect, but not too bad, but Cork is certainly NOT 3 miles away from Leicester as it is on the other side of Ireland.

2) When you say that the Music Player mobile client is checked for artist names is this what the bar reflects below the time to gig symbol?

I think I understand better. Looking at my profile the Gig finder seemes to record the artists you haev lsitened to rather than the artists which are loaded on your phone. I think this is where the misunderstanding came.

4) Is there any chance the app could be set to poll the connection at a set interval rather than permanently connected to help conserve battery time for people living in areas with changeable signal strength and availability, or user connecting via WiFi.

5) Maybe a link to the Venue's website could be added for further details as, for example, when looking at the "Upcoming Events" for De Montfort Hall, Leicester I am onluy shown 5 events, spanning the next 9 days. I know that on their website they list events spanning a year or more.

6) Also is there any chance users could set Preffered Venue as well as Prefferred Artists. This would help improve the Suggestions Screen.
