@mbrett, thanks for info. Have you been successful with using Gizmo+Google voice for calling free from Phone directly? I had earlier looked at Gizmo forum which gives 3 options for Nokia phones. But still I am not able to get direct calling from phone working. Suyog

@djh.sthlm, I think you will be able to help, give some useful tip to me. Here is what I am trying to do. Get free calling to USA numbers via Google Voice+Gizmo from my Nokia N82. I have added my Gizmo number to Google voice and I am able to receive calls. To make calls I have to open Google voice site either on mobile or Computer and then place call which connects my Gizmo number in N82 and desired number. Kind of bridge. If i call directly from phone as Internet call, it uses Gizmo credit which is almost zero in my case. Could you please help me here? Also where I can get Gizmo for S60 client? Will it support N82? I had that on my N73 long time ago. But now I am not able to find that client, what I get is small sis file which essentially configures gizmo service in Internet telephony. But I am not getting integration which Gizmo for S60 had, also IM features are missing. Suyog

I know the gizmo for S60 has graduated, but I do have a question, is there anyway to use the app with Gizmo's SMS service? I have the Nkia E63 and cannot seem to find an SMS feature, calling and IM are there. Any insight would be great.

mbrett, Thanks for the info, the unfortunate part is that Gizmo5 seems to be less responsive to question than nokia. I want to use Gizmo5 and drop my minutes plan, but getting questions answered is a lot harder than I thought.

I am wondering if there is an easy way to setup Gizmo to make calls using the 3G internet connection instead of Wifi? Has anyone tried this? I have Gizmo setup in Nimbuzz, but I am uncertain if the call is actually over the 3G or a Dial up VOIP call. Thanks in an advance.

I think at one time I had the Nokia and the Gizmo5 apps installed on my phone. This gave me the quick "make internet call" option, as well as the full Gizmo5 interface. I wonder if the problem lies with Nokia or Gizmo5. I really wish they continue working on Gizmo. I love how it integrates, but it was lacking on features so I uninstalled and installed the full version from gizmo5 which doesn't integrate like Nokia's version.

I've been using Gizmo since the E61. I've successfully used it on the E61, E61i, N95, E71 and am now (sorta) using it on the E75. PRO: Enter in your username and password and you're good to go and all configured CON: The Gizmo people take foreveer to accept your money and have problematic / non-existent customer support (for people who want to use Gizmo for long distance, incoming calls, etc.) Overall: 5/5 - more SIP providers should hop on the bandwagon and create a client like this. I don't use the IM features of Gizmo but I do use the SIP calling features extensively. PS - (as of 5/18/2009) don't install the BetaLabs client on the E75. It doesn't work - instead use the client you can download from within the phone.

Well, now that I've upgraded my handset from E61 to N79 I can no longer test this app. Too bad. Fring and Nimbuzz work well on my N79, providing loads of messaging features including SIP calling. I currently prefer Nimbuzz, making and receiving Gizmo calls with no problems. Native VoIP provisioning on my N79 also works well in the same WLAN environments where my E61 would refuse to register properly. The only VoIP connectivity issue I have to figure out with my N79 is Gizmo presence; No one can see that I'm available through Gizmos servers. -David N79 Active Edition. I'm having a problem with my N82. When I call from the computer to the phone everything works great. But when I call from the phone to the computer the call works but I hear nothing. What could be the problem?

Gizmo's call quality, call rates, features and app for Mac are all very good. Manual SIP phone configuration on my Nokia doesn't provide connections to all my access points. Gizmo for S60 integrates well and provides nice access to Gizmo's IM features. Bottom line, I like and use Gizmo and I continue to fund my account. However, I can ONLY rely on my Mac app for calling. Gizmo for S60 is only reliable for IM. That being the case, I'd rather use Nokia Chat, Palringo, Fring, or Nimbuzz. Truphone on my Nokia always connects to all my access points. However, I do not prefer their rates nor their features. Since I cannot rely on Gizmo for S60 for calls, I have to register Truphone on my Nokia and ask my Gizmo contacts to call my Truphone SIP address. Vyke also registers with reliability. Why not Gizmo? gizmo wil not work.. not sure why nokia has no built in sip support. but if you install fring and register the gizmo add in it will work through fring

My initial suspicion lies with your ISP. Presently, I'm experiencing the same issue and what I discovered is that many ISPs are providing routing devices pre-configured to monitor or block specific traffic, in our case Gizmo. My provider, Comhem in Sweden, wont allow me access to the router's admin pages to change the settings. They say the configuration is for my "Safety". Again, same as you I can make and receive calls through my Macbook using Gizmo with no problems. I also have tried different ports as suggested in the Gizmo support forums. Still, no joy for my handset and Gizmo. Gizmo for S60 as well as manually configuring my handset's internet calling to work with the Gizmo service works without a problem with the many access points I have at work. They also work just fine at many free access points in my city. Just not at home where I need it the most.. Like I said in my review, this is what bothers me about this application and service. ESPECIALLY when most other VoIP apps for S60 work when Gizmo will not. Truphone, for one, works flawlessly with any open access point I can hunt down. Keeping Gizmo connected is a constant challenge. I know the source of my particular problem lies with my ISP, but why do so many other S60 VoIP apps work when Gizmo will not? Until I switch ISPs next month I'm simply using Truphone on my E61 and gave my SIP address to my Gizmo contacts.
