Right now, the app is only useful under a specific set of circumstances - both a cell connection and a WLAN connection.

It would be really great to have the choice of finding one's location either via cell id or gps (in case there happens to be no cell network nearby). And, being able to grab the current weather data via cell data or wlan (in case there is no wlan nearby).

I frequently find myself where either the cell network connection is missing (but, I have GPS and WLAN) or the WLAN is missing (but I have GPS and/or cell connection).

In some cases, I'm in a spot where there's another GSM network that I'm not allowed to roam on. Can the phone still see sufficient data from said other network to be able to get the info it needs to get an approximate fix on where i is?

Very good suggestions, certainly something for further development. I think we should automatically use whatever positioning system is available, e.g. cell ID, GPS or even WLAN based (assuming geocoded WLAN access points).

At the moment we use the ID of the currently connected cell. As far as I understand we do not get that information from other cells or networks, but I have to double-check.

i think it's a good idea to add positioning methods option but the one that consumes the least power should be default i.e cell --- N95 31.0.0.17 | N97 11.0.0.21 ---
