That would be pretty cool. If only I had the home screen capability in the N95 8Gb.

Maybe on fp 1 phones they could add on stanby screen under the time and date the temperature and events inside the calendar ass a note or memo.
Would be nice if it were added like Share Online.
This would be the same for Nokia Messaging (mail.nokia.com version)

Yes but we asked this for conversation, ovi contacts, messaging so it's not possible to put everything on the standby screen. Lets make a different suggestion. Like i said it would be nice for temperature to be displayed under the time and date. Also it would be nice that besides the temperature it displays additional information (sunrise, sunset, low, high t etc) the same way the cell info is displayed meaning the info is changing so displaying every category. It would be nice if it gets the info for a 5 day interval (maybe a option to choose the interval) so we wouldn't need to go online every day for check. For events create a new category in calendar called event (of course :) ) which will dispaly events on calendar plugin in standby. Beta Labs, what do you think about this idea? Is it doable? I really think this is a step forward for Here and Now.
I completely accept that if we got all of them on the sandby screen it would get a little busy, but one would be nice.
We know it is possible as Epocware do it in there standby screen replacement.

Well fp1 doesn't have the feature to select plugins and i dont believe that any future firmwares will add this so its better to make a compromise. Beside explain me what would plugin look like. You press it and it starts here and now. That's a waste. You already can long press 0 and it will open web with here and now as a bookmark.
It is true that FP1 does not support plugin selection by the user, but this does not stop Nokia Development teams getting the apps added during install, like Share Online.
I must admit Epocware do it differently as they relpace the Standby Screen with one of there own.
If Here and now were a plugin it could have weather information like that displahed in Handy Weather (Epocware) and or some sort of events link/ No of events in you area, based on event type (user selectable in Here and Now. No of events on each type could be displayed next to a relevant icon for that event type a little like Share Online.

But like you said the epocware had to change the standby display in order to do so. Thats to many information to be displayed separetely. It just wouldn't fit on standby screen in my opinion. I do like the idea to give it a look as share online. On left side the temperature and on right the events. To give it one line in standby screen and somehow display all of this. If it could then combined with what i suggested (the cell info display thing) (meaning left side temperature and changing with other information about the weather, and on right event: number of events and then changing and showing every event). If this could be done this would be awesome! :)
I still think it would be tidier in the main opart of the screen with the likes of Share Online.
We are all entitled to our own opinions and if we agreed about everything wouldn't life be boring.

agree with this completely but if we want new ideas implemented we shuold find a compromise solution in order for NBL to implement them (llike when every one wanted it for fp1). The more people want the same idea the better are chances for it to be implemented. :) They should make somethnig out of this. what ever they do it would be nice. but i still think the event should be implemented in calendar because they are a calendar event. as for wheather maybe they could add a 5 day wheather forecast displayed as a plugin.
That sounds good to me.

I just realized something. A lot of blacklist apps (handy blacklist, easy reject etc) have a standby indicator that shows if the blacklist is on or off. This indicator is just obove the 6 shortcuts. So i think some kind of similar solution could be used for showing weather which in my opinion should be shown along with time and date and not at the bootom of the stanby screen.
Why not* in the cell info display? there is already the name of location, there is only to add the temperature or something else.
* update: I forgot "not"

that's what i'm saying. it's logical to place it there along with time, date and place. please BLT make this happen.
I would love to see our stuff on the FP1/FP2 active idle. The possibilities there are kind of limited compared to the home screen on the N97, for example, but it seems that you have got the different options pretty well covered here.
I'll take this on our list and we'll see what can be done. If we can do it on our own the probability for this is much higher than if we have to go to the platform and ask for an enabler. That is not likely to happen at this point.

@redreku: Is there any way you could talk with the Share Online ev team as they managed to get Share Online int the Active Standby Screen. Maybe they cen even provide you with some code for it's incorporation.

lets not forget this is for future devices, so more options are open
BLT check some black list apps that have a standby indicator. I'm sure that they did it on their own and without going to the platform and asking for an enabler. If they can do it, you can do it no doubt about it. Thank you for considering this idea.
well another solution that can be used beside a plug in, is do what google and yahoo did for thier search bar application. Its virtually prompted on the the home screen.
Are there any news? Can we expect something out of this?
