Update 30-4-2010:

Creating Mobile Codes
You can create a mobile code with a few simple clicks. Just write a message, your phone number, or a link to a website, and change it into a mobile code, which can be scanned using a camera phone.

Sharing Mobile Codes
The best thing about mobile codes is that you can share them and use them in any possible way you can imagine, by printing them or publishing them online. Before you know it, someone will spot your mobile code, scan it with their camera phone, and have instant access to your encoded message, website or phone number.

Reading Mobile Codes
You might already have a code reader on your camera phone. If not, don't worry. You can get one for a vast number of mobile devices.

Try it yourself

Mobile Codes is available at mobilecodes.nokia.com.

Note: The Mobile Codes site is not being actively developed, but it remains available for simple generation of bar codes.  Additionally Nokia Point & Find incorporates bar code creation (for publishers) and scanning (in the client).
