Really miss it, it will make it easier for me to listen to an audiobook by just compiling it to 1 file.
I have alot of music, so dont want to mix music and audiobook together.
as a workaround if you goto the chapters of the books in file manager and open they will play in the media/music player software...
have to fast forward to where you left off so remember and also remember what chapter you were on but at least it does work
any expected date for this update ???

as a further workaround besides being able to play .awb files with the music player ... if you put the book in .mp3 format (i know takes a lot more space) ... on the phone as podcasts insteadof audio books the player knows which chapters have already been played (you can goto first unplayed episode/chapter) and it also remembers where you left off in a particular chapter.. after navigating to the podcast if you instead of openng a particular chapter select goto now playing.. from the menu it will load up the last chapter at the point you left off listening..
note you put the books on the phone in the following directlory structure on your memory card
e:\podcasts\author name\book name\book files.mp3
create the directory structure if it doesnt exist..
finally to open it you dont goto the podcast icon on the phone but the music player .. have it refresh and then open the podcast item in the music player list....
hope this helps

I feel gutted because I sold my N95 to buy the nokia 5800 XM. I keep on searching the beta labs twice a day to see if there is any updates.

I cannot buy a S50v5 device before Nokia Audiobooks becmes available. Bookmarks, organizer, it may not be perfect but it's damn good and so much better for audiobooks than music player.
What I like most is that it continues from where you left off no matter how you close the program.

Its great ! thanks mate :)
every one else here should try it out.
This is enough of a deal breaker for me that I'm willing to do this myself. I'm a pretty competent programmer, how can I help to get this working for the 5800? Can i join the dev team and get it done somehow?
5800 XM is supposed to be good for listening to stuff %)
PLEASE release this for 5th!
The only mitigating factor is that if I "bookmark" my position in an audio file mentally, I can just point at it when I resume listening. It's better than holding down a fast forward button for a minute and a half, as I sometimes had to on my previous phone.
PLEASE release this for 5th! (5800)
Audiobooks is my favorite application. Please help us. We need a version f
Where is audiobooks for my n97? Where?
R e q u e s t!
all other Users, please post here to let them know, that we need a 5th version!
I would very much like to buy the new N97 but I can't do it. The reason is that I am addicted to Audiobooks and can not live without it. During the past year I have spent some 1000 hours with Audiobooks. And I am a busy man with not much free time. Of course I will not carry two phones (my old N95 and the new N97) with me all the time. Because I assume there are other addicts out there in the same situation Nokia is actually loosing money by not releasing a new Audiobooks version with s60v5 support. Please forward this message to the decision makers within Nokia: By upgrading the status of Audiobooks from experimental via a normal beta (with more resources for support) to a real application you will increase the sales of your new and more expensive phones.
PLEASE release this for N97

MP3 player app is no good for audiobooks. It does not remember the exact position where I left off, no bookmarks etc. And it doesn't support the super efficient compression.
Pls, release!
We need you.
I don't want to return my 5530!
Please release the player for us!
Nokia 5800XM v31.0.008 RM-356
I used this great app on my N82 and now switched to a 5800XM. I am very sad that there is no audiobook app for my new phone. Hopefully soon?
por favor necesito la release para v5 please.

Cass1959. Migrating from E63 to 5800XM and I've dug out my old Sansa music player just to keep my music and audiobooks seperated... it's a shame you've decided to discontinue development of the application... the music player would work fine if it had a bookmark / resume function, but...
Audiobooks, is hands down one of the best application Nokia have made. Shame they have dropped it. Please please please bring it back or the S60 5th edition. The podcast application on the 5800 is great for podcasts but just doesn't cut it for audiobooks.
Actually, it works. The old Audiobooks apps is running pretty well in my 5800XM.
Hmm I can install it but I cannot get to the menu because it is not for touch, so I cannot get it to work.
I agree it is a mistake that betalabs closed this down. If the music player supported bookmarks it might not be that big a problem, but it does not. Therefore it is quite a hasle to listen to long podcasts or audiobooks.
So my prayer to Nokia is that if you really are keeping this project closed down you should at least start supporting bookmarks so you easily can keep track on how far you have gotten!
Does anyone know of player that does support bookmarks?
@joshashry How did you get it to run on your 5800XM? Yes the program seems to install, but not showing up as a launchable application.
first, get yourself a signsis apps for nokia 5800xm. get your certificate from opda. sign the old apps with the signsis apps. install it on your phone. then install the virtual keyboard.
first, open the virtual keyboard, then hide it. open the audiobooks apps. that's it. the virtual key will do all the works, including the bookmarks.
enjoy.
