I hope you can help me and other users whit some problems of the Nokia E6-00
First, common problem, as you might know, is the Notification light noticeability (the problem is even posted on Wikipedia)! The light in the D-Pad is to week, only visible in a very dark room.
The E6 users have found a solution in using the application: “Remind Me” from OVI Store. Whit this App you can use other phone illuminations (for example the Key Pad ore the Call and End key), to blink when you have a missed call ore SMS. Even the D-Pad is stronger illuminated, but the light is blocked by the chrome part of the pad (making it rather a Hardware problem). The unfair part is, that Nokia promises the Notification light (having a separate Setting in the Device settings for this), but it’s really not noticeable, and we had to pay 5 euro for the mentioned app!
The second most important problem is the phone vibration! If the phone is set to vibrate and you put it in your pocket or on the desk, you can’t feel it, it is very week. This problem also seems to occur to all E6 Handsets (regardless of the software version, just like the Notification-light problem). The thing is if you use an app which is set to vibrate, the vibrations are much stronger! You can even “here” it vibrate (I noticed this fact using Fring and sending me a Yahoo IMS, when the phone was set to vibrate).
Some users say these could be power saving bugs. On Nokia support discussion, we were informed that the problem is forwarded to engineering (but it’s been a month).
Since software update v22.014 when creating a new message using the messaging app the predefined option is to search for the phone-number (#123). You have to manually change every time from numbers to letters, to find a contact by the name and there's no option to permanently set it to letters! ... but when using the Message shortcut key, searching for the contacts by name (abc) is predefined (as it should be).
If you use the Option: New Message and you go to Options, Writing Language and select English, it suddenly jumps from 123 to abc!!!! (I tried to install another language pack, but I didn’t succeed, the problem persist)
I and some Other Users have no option to set the camera shutter sound to off (I have only sound 1 to 4, and no off). The sound is there even if the phone is set to silent. To take a silent picture, I had to install another paid app, Camera Plus!
