I've been struggling for ages to transfer music I downloaded from the Nokia Music store (which plays fine on my laptop) to my E71 (which says the license is invalid). When I log on via my phone, it tells me I need to buy another license.
The Nokia R&D team haven't been able to help (I asked them 2 weeks ago). It just doesn't make sense to me. Why should I buy another license just to listen to music on my phone? Anyone?
I'm sorry, we're not experts on this here at Beta Labs. What did the R&D teams say? Are these two devices the only devices you've tried to play the song(s)?
I also got siilar issue only thing is that in my case it's opposite. I am unable to play track on PC and same plays on my N82.
I sent email to nokia care to which i got reply that it will be solved within 48 hours but nothing since then. Almost 2 months and problem continues. :) I know that you can't do much to help us but just take this as feedback and provide to guys who can make a difference.

@Suyog & @varsityblah: How did you get the files in both places. Have you tried downloading to your device and PC from the Music Store separately as this should be possible. This may further help identify your issue as either a licence transfer or specific licencing issue. i.e. If is it the transfer or the licencing process?

No disrespect guys but how is this a beta labs issue - These guys have nothing to do with Ovi player or the music store. Contact Nokia customer care!!!

Not being an expert with Ovi Player - I do have a CWM N97 mini - with this device music cannot be transfered to any other device. Were yours CWM devices? If so then you will not be able to transfer. The only other issue I know of is with Windows media player - if you do not have the correct version you are unlikely to have the correct DRM system on your PC. Which may cause the pc issue. Maybe!!
The only other thing is do you have the latest version of Ovi player?

I have also considered all options as listed by you.
- Mine is N82, non-CWM device, infact CWM is not launched in India yet.
- I have updated Windows 7 ultimate,so ruled out Windows Media Player issue.
- Have latest OVI Player.

I rarely use it tbh Suyog - tbh I don't find it useful and tend to solve most of my issues myself. I also have the benefit of knowing lots of people in Nokia so if I have a major issue I tend to go to them directly.

Well this issue got resolved as Nokia Music become OVI Music, going DRM free !
I re-downloaded tracks and they came as MP3 , DRM free. No issues now :)
