It seems like an application that should have been there all along. Since the dawn of mobile devices the blind and visually impared have been somewhat left out when it comes to messaging, as it has previously relied on sight (with the exception of the nokia message reader, which in the history of the mobile device is still a pretty new feature).
I can see this tool being useful for those learning braille also as it includes the learning in a frequently used pass time and means of communication.
