Adding Ovi Browser Short Cut on Home Screen

Add a short cut on your phone's home screen to get one click access to Ovi Browser.  (Supported on Series 40 phones that feature home screen personalization.)

Ovi Browser Short Cut  

1. From your home screen, select a shortcut to change (for touch screen phones touch and hold an icon on the shortcut bar, for non-touch phones highlight an icon on the shortcut bar with the cursor and select the Options soft key)
2. Select "Change shortcut"
3. Select "Application list"
4. Select "Ovi Browser"
5. Now Ovi Browser is always accessible directly from the home screen

Configuring the Access Point for Downloaded Apps

If you get a “Communication Error” message, your access point settings for downloaded apps probably needs to be set up.  Contact your mobile operator for setting the access point. 

Self Help Instructions to set up your access point

If you are familiar with setting up your phone, you could follow the steps below.


1. Click Menu -> Settings -> Configuration -> Personal Configuration Settings
2. Click Options -> Add New
3. Select Access Point. Configure the following

    Account Name

4. Go to Access point settings. Configure the following

    Data Bearer (GPRS or Packet data)

5. Go to Bearer settings. Configure the following

    GPRS/Packet data Access Point
    Authentication Type (Normal)
    User name
    Password

6. Go back up to Personal Configuration Settings. Select Web. Configure the following

    Account Name
    User name
    Password
    Use preferred access point (YES).

7. Go back up to Configuration Settings. Select Act. Def. in all apps

8. In Configuration Settings also set the following:

    Set ‘Default Config. Sett.’ to ‘Personal Config’
    Set ‘Preferred access pt.’ to ‘My Acess point’ (the one created in step 3)
