Frequently Asked Questions

General

  1. Which cities you have covered now? Paris, London, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Miami, New York, Newark-Jersey City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle. (The latest additions in italic.)
  2. What will be the next cities you cover? We'll first expand our coverage in US but we plan to cover more cities in Europe soon as well.
  3. Will there be a version for Windows Phone / Symbian / some other operating system? Nokia will integrate panoramas to other platforms as part of its location offering when the coverage has matured enough.
  4. Why do I need to have PR1.1 firmware in my N9? We’re taking advance of some Qt libraries that work properly from PR1.1 onwards only.

Using Nokia City Scene

  1. How can I get help for using the app? There are some images on the left that explain the main functionality.
  2. How can I move faster than by clicking the arrows? In addition to tapping the arrows, you can move in the panorama view by double-tapping the streets themselves. This will allow you to move longer distances with one double-tap.
  3. How can I explore the surroundings of a business I was searching? When you tap on a search result and the background of the info dialog changes to the location of the business, you can tap the address or the empty space above the dialog to freely explore the surroundings of the business (see the images on the left). You'll get back to search by tapping the search icon on the top and the search still remembers what you have typed.
  4. Why some buildings don't have businesses altough you can click on them? Currently we cannot reliably place all the businesses on Nokia databases to buildings so some buildings look empty in the system.
  5. Why do I get "No panorama" even though I'm tapping inside the panorama coverage area? Unfortunately the panorama coverage information we have access to is not precise to the street level. Hence there are holes in the coverage but we are working on to have more precise visualization in the UI.
