Word deletion on phones such as the N95 and N82 is sorely needed, it's great being able to see what words are in the custom dictionary but useless if you cannot edit it, and that included deletion.
Thanks. Hope to see this in an update soon.

I so badly want the fuctionality to remove words from my N95's dictionary
I second this. There are some really weird words in my dictionary, obviously typos. I'd like to be able to get rid of them.
Nokia needs to understand that failing to support their established customer base is rather short sighted. Why buy a Nokia phone if next year it will no longer be supported.

Nice app. Only, on my N79 I cannot delete words. I hope this option will be available soon, since I want to get rid of some unused T9-words. For now, I will rename them to something else.
Integration in text-messaging would be nice too. Now, you have to open the Dictionary-application to change your dictionary.
Thanks for your suggestion, jarown.
Unfortunately, there are known incompatibilities with some S60 firmware, and that is why you cannot delete a word in your N79 dictionary.
Same thing. Please add 'removing words' in 3rdEd.Fp2.
I have a N85. I get the message that I can only create a backup and add new words at begin. But it seem to work.
What I don't have in the menu is to delete a word, I can only add or change the words but not delete them.
What's about full access to the T9-dictionary? Useres could create new dictionaries for languages that are not present :D

EXCELLENT NEWS.
Piece of REALLY useful advice for you however folks...
For many phones, including the N86, and N82, there is no option to DELETE a wrongly created wonky custom word.
I HAVE found a really easy way around this though to DELETE words you don't want (or at least it so far seems so...).
To DELETE a wrongly created custom word, in your word list, do the following...

Click the middle button to select/highlight to word you want to delete.

The word should now have it's characters all highlighted already. DO NOT deselect them.

Instead, just press the letter "a", to change the wrong word, to "a" instead, then click ok.

And what it seems to have the effect of doing, is CHANGING your wrong word, to the letter, a, BUT then realising "a" already exists as a proper word, and thus dropping it from the Custom Dictionary.
The net result however, is DELETION of your wrongly spelt word.
Don't ask me WHY with such a tool, we can't just go down and tick to select multiple words, and then choose DELETE, or even just have a delete option one by one.
Over to you, Nokia Beta Labs, for an answer, or to put in the next version please!
This works with any letter. But the word comes back to it's place after restarting the application.
So no delete!
On my E51 it behaves as daniel.dur describes. The app also states only adding words and backing up is supported when it is started.
Having an edit or preferably delete would be the main point with this app for me. As adding words is already built in (in normal T9 writing)...
@shadamehr
yeah.. you can delete them.. temporarily.. if you reopen the app, the word will still be there.. i have a technique to delete words..
1) i make a backup of the list
2) with a file explorer i go to the location of the backup and edit the file.. it's XML based. so, i search for the words i don't want and delete them..
3) with the file explorer, i go to C:\Predic and delete the file in there (in my e51, it's 101F8615_F.dat).. now the database is cleared..
4) i restore the backup
that was my old technique.. but thanks to the technique by @shadamehr i realized that i can dalete words easier the way he said.. but, as it's temporary, then i backup the list, and do only the steps 1, 3 and 4.
so the new steps are
1) click to edit the word and type just a character, any of them, so the word will be out of the list.
2) make a backup of the list
3) with a file explorer, i go to C:\Predic and delete the file in there (in my e51, it's 101F8615_F.dat).. now the database is cleared..
4) restore the backup
@gerard_armando
Thanks for the tip. Modified it a bit and created another thread "Solved - Deleted word comes back after closing and re-opening Nokia Custom Dictionary (NCD)" using your method. Useful for those who can delete the words but changes are not saved (no need to use @shadamehr method as the words can be deleted.)Thanks again!
still no word deletion up to this day. And it's almost 2011.
It works well in my nokia C5-00 which is I think is an FP2 series mobile. I have full functionality of this software. All u guys please try and update your firmwares to the latest version using the Nokia Software Updater.
