 Quick Troubleshooting

  • If you’re having connection issues with your device, e.g. device not able to configure MfE mailbox, or sync your emails, please check the following:
    • Check if the connection is coming up (GPRS, 3G icons top left of your home screen)
    • Check if any other application (like browser) is able to connect using the same APN as your email client
    • Check if you can connect to Microsoft OWA ( https://mail.nokia.com/owa/ ) via your device’s browser
  • Whenever you observe some weird behavior with your MfE, collect the admin logs from your device. They are stored at C:\data\MailForExchange (admin_log1.txt, admin_log2.txt, admin_log2.txt). 
  • If you're sure MfE has some problems and decide to report the issue to Nokia. It's very helpful to provide the debug logs. 
  1. Enable logs via Option->Settings->Global settings->Logs output-> Enable.
  2. Reproduce the defects.
  3. Use Ovi Suite or PC Suite to copy all files under C:\logs\fsemail\ in mobile to your PC. Send all the files to Nokia via support person
  4. Remember to disable logs via Option->Settings->Global settings->Logs output-> Disable. 
  • Please copy all kinds of log files as soon as possible after you meet the problem or reproduce it again. The log files are overwrited to save disk space, so normally the content of log files are kept for few (at worst case even few hours) days depending on the generated content's size.

Known issues   

  • IMAP/IDLE is not supported.
  • Using Gmail account as a Mail for Exchange mailbox is not officially supported, there are some known issues.  Please configure Gmail via normal setup (IMAP protocol is used).
  • Only some of the subfolders will be synced if the total amount is huge (e.g. 1500 folders), restricted by system resource. 
  • Only part of the mail will be displayed  if the content is bigger than around 150 KB (not about attachments, only email body).
  • After quick open and close an email (>150kB) several  times, then open email again, the fetching might be always on. It can be recoverred by restarting Email app (Select Exit from Options menu, then launch it from main menu).
  • Do not create a new MfE? account by editing profile. Please delete the old one, then create the new one.
  • For "unable to complete command" error message, restart the email app might solve it.
  • Mail For Exchange mailbox will have random sync problems after Backup/Restore. Solution: Remove then re-create the Mail For Exchange account.

Solved issues ( since 052.005 )

  • Email stop sync fixes

1.      Delete email fails, sync stop.

2.      Server change a Folder don't exist on device, sync stop.

3.      One corrupt email data, sync stop.

4.      Server response EStatusServerError? , sync stop.

5.      KErrCorrupt and decode issue, sync failed. 

6.      Failed to create * sync command (error=-20), make sync request fail to send to server. So server could send no response, no data received, so looks like sync stop. "

  • Email :Memory leak is detected after send and reveive Email via GPRS

  • FS Email: Message Editor considered the character type as ShortKey? after Searching from the header Email.
