it works just fine, just a couple of problems with locating myself in the map:
- maps for chile are almost completely empty
- I'm not completely sure how to set "approximate" location. I tried enabling "Network Based" in the Positioning prefs of the mobile (n95-3) but that places me in the middle of the sea in northern europe, it seems
other than that this is a great idea but I'd like it much more if it used nokia maps maps, so it doesn't have to download that
Have you got the latest version of Friend View.
I started my copy and it informed me that a new version was available and it's worknig fine including "Approximate Location". Version 0.844
Regarding "approximate" location, you could also check that, in Settings->General->Positioning->Positioning server, the server address is supl.nokia.com and a valid access point is selected.

sorry to ask again, but, in the n95 is it "Network Based"? what does that use? I mean, what does it mean "Networks Based"? The server I have supl.nokia.com since the beginning because I've been using Assisted GPS

Appolgies for the update reference. Thought I had the latest Betalabs .sis file on my phone so after Firmware update a coulpe of nights ago installed from that and when I then ran up Friend View it told me there was an update. Obviously had an older version then.
Is network base the use of the closest three cell towers to triangulate a rough location for yout phone?
I have evrything selected other then bluetooth GPS for my N95 8GB.
what I need to know, is, if I enable "Network Based" positioning how will my provider charge me for that? If it's just data usage, no prob, but if it sends SMSs or something, I want to know first :)
btw, "Network based" hasn't placed me even in the correct country lately----
If "network based" is GSM location as I suspect I beleive it should be free.
It does not involve any sms messaging. It probably works in a similar way to the setting in most if not all nokia mobile phones (cell info display - within Tools / Settings / Phone / Network ) which displays your area code on your standby screen. It utilises information constantly passing between your phone and the local cell towers.
