As u know not all countries and cities are provided with a good map view. So it can be a great idea if u could provide the users with satellite view. But not the NAVTEQ satellite view cause they are not useful at all.
Google satellite pictures got a satisfactory quality.

wait!, if you plan at somepoint to use maps / satellite imaging, I think the way to go would be to use the data from nokia maps (3.0? :)) --- The *one* reason I've uninstalled google maps is this keeps downloading the same map data again and again, and there's no way to preload it in the device which makes it slow, prone to fail if you get out of 3g areas and too expensive to keep running when you're roaming.
So I'd suggest to integrate it with Nokia Maps' data (but not like google maps work)

This would be a bad idea. Let the different apps do there own jobs. I think sharing Nokia Maps data with Friends View and Nokia ViNE and Nokia Sports Tracker. This way you would have one set of map data, but not force the apps to merge. This is the way to go as each application gets to keep it's integrity without making hem all into one oversized integrated application. Doing everything, but not as well as it would be done by separate more specialised apps.

I wish I could post pictures here! I am using Google Lattitude with 15 friends - Trucks in my business. Sattelite view and normal map view with that is fine because you have big icons with a clear color around it the same as with friendview.
I Would love to use friendview for it instead!! It's a heaps better application for location sharing.

You can use you Nokia Username and Password on Share on OVI to upload pictures that and then post the link here. Just remember to set them in your public folder.

Here are some pictures using Google Maps, 2 x satellite pictures and 1 with the map view. They are very clear! It is easier to tell where the friend is than with the less descriptive grey maps.

For Nokia Friend View website satellite imagery is OK, but for the mobile client it could be a little harder to acheive due to the reduced space.
