I have a Nokia N82 with latest firmware.
When I try to upgrade from 90(2) to 93(1) all progresses to last step then I get the message Unable to Install.
If I try to uninstall 90(2) I get the message. Unable to uninstall.
...turn your phone off and back on...
...and then try to upgrade it again...
...I got the same error as you did...this simple procedure has solved my problem;

hmm...i terminated imexserver.exe using Jbak, then removed the older version and installed the new one
Like the OP, I kept getting error messages when trying to upgrade from 90(2) to latest version. Similarly, I was unable to remove the old version.
I switched N85 off and on again. FIRST THING I DID AFTER PHONE BOOTED was to remove old version. Worked fine.

Thanks for the report, Just a general question, in all your cases did you install directly from the web site or did you get the automatic installation notice and upgrade using that?

I had a nightmare yesterday trying to update NIE on my N82, I ended up having to format my device. To make matters worse, I had a similar experience on my N95-2 also, which that too had to be reformatted.
N82 no update notice within the app, could not uninstall, or reinstall new app over the top.
N95, I did get the update notice via text message, and when opened app, it downloaded the update, but upon completing the download, it rebooted my N95, and corrupted the file, and would not open, hence the reason I formt both devices.
