It could be that Auto-Rotate is not enabled.
Settings -> Phone -> Sensor Settings -> Turning Control -> Auto-rotate display
But it seems that current N97 firmware version supports only alphanumeric keypad.
I hope that next firmware version will have option for full screen QWERTY.
