On my Nokia5800 I updated this java runtime beta. After the installation I noticed that the shortcuts of all previously installed java app moved to the "applications" folder although I put them elsewhere. Next I checked working with OperaMini. The result are: much more crashes with restarting the phone (after few minutes with every usage freezed and crashed), and a lot more waiting to connect the preferred internet connection. With reinstalling Opera Mini brang the same results. So I decided to uninstall it after about 30 minutes. After uninstalling you have another surprise: shortcuts for all java apps dissapear from the menu. After restarting the phone you will find them, but again in the root of applications folder, so you can rearrange them again.
Nokia said with it you have faster java install. That's true, but this speed gives you maximum one seconds, because it doesn't ask you the install target, you can set it in the installer. So, this is an improvement if I want to find some positive from this update.
Nokia also promised that with this update java applications have faster and more stable running. It is false. With the example, Opera Mini, the java apps are slower and less stable. With making a speed-test with JBenchmark3D and JBenchmark2 the results speak for themselves: all the values are almost the same with the both java version, BUT THE USER INTERFACE SPEED DECREASED WITH THE NEW UPDATE FROM 520 TO 339!!!!! And this value is true, because this is what I felt during the usage of the new update.
So, nice to see that they are working, but this is an alpha version, not beta. I hope that we will get a stable and fast version of it soon.
Sorry for the honest review!
