has anyone got this app working on a 5800
Souldn't try until it has an S60 5th Edition Release.
The 5800 and N97 are based on the S60 5th Edition platform. The present versions of Magnifier are designed for the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and 2 platforms. It is not advisable to install applications not designed for the correct platform of your device. Most applications will not allow installation on the incorrect platform but some will and the result can be incompatability issues with installed applications and worse. These incorrectly insatlled applications, in some cases can then be iremoveable without a factory rest of your device remove all personal information stored on your device.

Tested with the latest SW versions:
* Works on: N96, N95, N95 8GB, N82, N73, E90, E71, E66
(These are S60v3.1 and s60v3.2 phones)
It has not been designed to work with s60v5 phones.

when installing, the phone shows a message "unable to install. component is built-in"
(I think it should have something to do that when installing through nokia pc suite it says the app is already installed on the phone. overwrite? (it isn't installed))

Same phone but Firmware v40.0.005 by now.
I suppose it is somewhere hidden within the OS, but it's not possible to use/select it... unfortunately.
It sounds like it's a very nice and helpful app.

I wanted to install this app on my S60 5th, a 5800XM.
It first told me my phone would not be compatible, so far so good I continued anyway.
Next message was a Stop-sign with the following text:
"unable to install. component is built-in"
Does this mean the magnifier app is already on my phone by factory? I checked all apps & menus but could not find a clue...
Another good app not compatible with S60V5! come on Nokia - How about a backwards compatibility emulator? At least we could then use all the S60v# apps around while we wait for updates!

Yes Its a shame it does not work on the N97 this app would be very useful for me as well.Like you said the component is built in to the N97 this is because the internet browser uses a magnifier as a app add on it sell.
Nokia should fix this problem...

I get the error "Unable to install. Compnent is built-in." on a N97 running the latest firmware.
This is becuase it is not compatible with Symbian S60v5 devices. You can find out which devices are compatible by looking for your devices on the "Download & Installation" page.

When I try ton install on my 5800 (NAM):
I first get a message that the application is not compatible with my device. Then I proceed and I get this message: Unable to install "Component is built-in"
Hi gtbarry, the 5800 is a S60 5th edition phone, and the Nokia Magnifier is still not compatible with this device. We will be studying the port for this device as well. Thank you for the feedback.

Nokia Magnifier seems to be nothing else than digital zoom for the camera. So go to cam mode and zoom whatever you want to enlarge and that's it.
