With the stadard mailboxes on the N97 I can set that every 30 minits there will be a check for new mail. Between the checks the Internet connection is not active. If there is any, a little icon on my homescreen will notify me. I can click the notification and will end up in the mailbox where the new mail is. I miss this functionality at Nokia Messaging and Nokia Messaging keeps the Internet connection up the whole time, consuming more power. For now I stick with the standard mailbox functionality which works like a charm for text based e-mails.
