Nokia messeging Freezes N97 mini!

Well, I almost sent back the phone to repair.

Symbian 6.0 (5) ,with the lastest firmware of Nokia N97 mini v11.0.045
The latest Nokia messeging! I updated through cell phone.

However,I finally figure out which application is freezing my phone! It is nokia messeging!! It is an evil application which will freeze your phone after quitting. The touch screen stopped working and I tried hard reset and soft rest and it seems the application will let either cpu or memory think hours and hours till it finished. I almost sent out the phone to repair and left it untouched for over night after the hardset. Next morning, it works again! Wow, everything is just so fine but I have to resintall all the applications and themes and reload the contacts.

Before re-installing and using Nokia Messeging, I was so happy about that my phone is back!! Then, I was dragged to hell again! After the re-intallation of nokia messeging, it frozed the touch screen again!!! The phone is nearly dead and it is. It will not turn back normal until it finished whatever the god damn process in the back no matter you hard reset or soft rest the device.

And this is because the lastest version of Nokia messeging!!! Nokia, the Finnish, Pls update your application develpement and fix this! I almost turn myself back to Nokia as I think it is now improving all kinds of online services as good as iphone. But I am so dissappointed, iphone is still so much better.

make sure you have more than 30 mb internal memory.

Hi, @travisnl - do you mean it is "Nokia Messaging" as in email or "Nokia Messaging for Social Networks", the software used to connect to facebook and twitter?

I have also noticed the phone freezes sometimes when you unexpectedly are left with no network coverage. Yesterday, I was running both social networks and email in my n97 mini (and ovi contacts, always conneted or at least trying) when in the subway it got disconnected (not even GSM available) and the touch screen and all buttons got unusable, but a while later when network became available I was able to shutdown then restart the phone (before that the power button didn't respond at all) and everything started working fine. I didn't initially try removing the nm social networks widget from the device screen, though.

I can also tell the same happens with the 5800 XM running ovi contacts + nokia messaging (email) + nokia messaging for social networks, and that the freeze also happens from time to time when running ovi maps.

Hope these help the developers figure out if what the problem is.

Thank you for the details speedgrapher. This issue appears to be caused by a library independent of our project, which would explain why you might see it in other products. You might have given us enough information to file an error report with the group responsible for fixing this.

Reproducing this issue consistently has been a problem for us. Do you seem to have a particular scenario that it seems to fairly consistently occur in?

Excatly, I actually using the regular nokia messaging without social networks. I have uninstalled the application and the phone works totally fine. I dare not to try again unless there is an update.

Hi, Austin,

I think it just takes too much time for the screen to works after it froze. Therefore, I've uninstalled the application and am waiting for the update that could fix this. It seems that not only the newwork problem because the device thinks way to long for a signal form the spot where can receive all networks properly. Even I tried hard reset but it still takes about 40 minutes to work properly again...

here in santiago, chile, whenever I go inside the subway in line 1, the signal drops to "no network available" then it seems to freeze all the time.

We believe we know the cause of this issue, but we can't be positive without reproducing it ourselves or getting logs from a debug build so we know what is going on.

speedgrapher: If it's that consistent, would you mind running the debug client for a little while and send me the logs once this happens? The debug client could affect latency and performance, but in my experience, it isn't horrible.

yeh i have the same problem with my n97 mini its freeze every time i want to go msn !!!
if any body knows how to fix thit please tell me be cause this app will be so good if dosent freeze like that !!! any help please jef_bad_boy@hotmail.com

Hello guys.
Socially seems to be a perfect application for my N97 mini to stay in touch with friends. But sadly, every time I try it, it freezes my phone and I have no other option but to restart it. I hope it gets fixed soon.
