Keep asking me my User and Password (which are correct) again and again, even after I press OK.
Why is that?

If you cannot connect to Facebook but you can connect to Twitter then most likely the Facebook server is having issues. Usually it fixes itself after a little while.
I forgot my device at work so I can't actually check myself. Please let me know if you are still having problems on Saturday.
Don't think it's FB server... i've been trying to use this for a few days and still can't log in
Sometimes I have the same problem. Off the phone and switched it on again. Shud be ok... Maybe because connection of the service provider... Or maybe you have another device accesing your account...

Is this a new problem or did it just start happening?
Our server may be down for maintenance as a new client is going to be released very soon, but if so I was not informed about it. I think if our server is the problem it will work itself out by Monday.

I have installed this app succesfully but cant login to my facebook account.. it says:
"Error: The client failed to connect to the gateway."
I am having the latest firmware on my phone
even its written on betlabs website that this is supported on 5530

I also have the latest firmware in the device and haven't been able to log in to Facebook.
Also when using the phone with Finnish language, the name of the the application is "kauppa" which means "store" in English.
Confirm that, first time looked what the hell it did install, but correct software opened.
Thank you for reporting these problems. We are investigating the login problem to Facebook.
It is also interesting that the application name has been changed, we are working on this as well.

Tried firing it up, but takes for ever to 'log on' to facebook. and then just hangs there without doing very much apart from those bars changing colours.
any suggestions?
It took several tries to get it installed on my N97 and I can't get it to log on either. A long time in "logging in..." then "Error: The client failed to connect to the gateway".
mines logged in right away. i am on the latest fw

I wonder why you guys cant log in. I have latest firmware. Just entered my email info and logged in on first try.

Yeap I get the same problem too "Error: The client failed to connect to the gateway".
My firmware version is 12.0.024 which is the latest for my product code and the nokia betalab says the firmware needed to install SOCIAL MESSAGING is 12.X.024 which I guess that included my device firmware....
I install the SOCIAL MESSAGING and tried to log in after I enter my email and password I press the log in button its keep showing the message LOGING IN nothing else than that
I want to know why it is like that to my device is it because the firmware differences between devices or some other reasons
and for your consideration WE PAID THE SAME AS OTHERS.

When I first installed it yesterday morning around 5:30AM (EST), I was able to log in and use the app perfectly fine. A few hours later when I tried to log back in to Facebook, I just get the Logging in... splash screen and it just stays there. My firmware version is v12.2.024

Is it me, or what? Nothing from nokia i've downloaded works on the almighty flagship n97. The ovi lifecasting thingy cannot connect to fb; the ovi map beta says can't find licence code or something like that; now this... Not to mention the other known problems with the os... Remind me why i pre-ordered this awesome phone again? Oh, right, and now nokia is releasing the n97 mini and n900 in less than 3 months... I feel so stupid.
They all run on the N97. OVI Maps 3.03 finds my licences. If you have an issue with this you need to contact the Maps team (there is post about this in the Maps forum). OVI Lifecasting works, but needs you to remove your OVI Contacts account before setting it up (You can the set your OVI Contacts account again afterwards).
As for the N97 mini. It is only slight;y smaller and only has an 8GB mass memory.
And the N900 is very impressive, but is slightly larger and runs a newish OS based on Linux, which will probably mean limited apps.
I still think the N97 is the best choice and will be even better when FW v20 is released in October.

IDK, whenever i am denied login, i just quit the thing and restart the phone, voila!
But sometimes it refuses to work unless I reinstall.
on FW1.2 btw.

I installed the program on E memory card first and did not got it to function.
Then I tried on C and both Facebook and Twitter working fine. No problem updating my status.

For everyone having issues please see the post below:
i was able to log on when I first installed the communities program but now it is giving me an "Error: The client failed to connect to the gateway" .
Try again. The server team found an issue and had to restart the server to fix it.
i still have the login issue. it just stays with the logging in screen turning circles...

Having the same issue, it keeps saying it's loggin in... but nothing happens..
As above, I'm getting spinning circles for twitter and the fading bar for facebook, and am unable to log in to either.
FW20, euro code handset.
Had the same issue (unlimited waiting for facebook or twitter to log in) ... after changing the primary internet connection (settings->connectivity->destinations) from wireless lan (my home network) to provider 3G I was able to log in.
Even after changing it back to WiFi on 1st and 3G on second priority its still working!

I just downloaded and installed the current beta, and after I select Facebook it brings up the sign-on screen, I enter ID and password, and it just hangs up while signing in. The animated graphic for the sign in never stops moving, but the app never completes the login either. I left it for 20 minutes and finally had to restart the phone. Retried after the restart and it did the same thing. In case it's relevant, neither the Facebook app or the Facebook widget are running at the time Communities is started.
5800 issues maybe?
Try this:
Go to Settings->Connectivity->Destinations. From there hit Options (Left select) and select "Default connection". You will see a list of options:
Always ask
Ask once
Internet
Multimedia msg.
WAP Services
Select Ask once.
If you are using an N97 or N97 Mini let me know and I will see if I can figure something else out.

The app starts up, but all attempts at logging into facebook of twitter leads to the login graphic staying there for a long time. The application also just stays there as a background process unless I shut off the phone.
What device are you using?

I also have this problem and im using the X6 too. Ive tried installing it a few times, both to mass and phone storage.
Iv tried playing with the connection settings, i.e via broadband, and via phone networks but no matter what i do all i get is 'Unkown Error, Please try later'.
This is really annoying cos its just what im looking for rather than having to use the basic facebook thing on there at the moment, if only it would work!

I did a hard reset... install and reinstall nokia social app and nothing worked for my Facebook account...
