Nokia Messaging - Social Messaging Beta is planned to be a social messaging app for use with Facebook and other Social Networking sites. They have started with Facebook as at present this is the biggest of the Social Networking sites.

OVI Lifecasting is specifically designed to enable users to post onto Facebook whilst attaching Geolocational data.

So both is the "same" (don't take it with a pinch of salt :) except that
- Social Messaging will support more Social Networking sites but without Geotagging
- Ovi Lifecasting only supports Facebook but with Geotagging

I think you can do more with Social Messaging

Ovi Lifecasting is soley for posting.
