I can understand that you are currently looking for a hot selling flagship device for this application, but why not for devices like Nokia N 95 :( For an application which is in beta, you expect newly launched device people(those who are fresh to nokia and for betalabs) to test this beta application? I know you will add other devices also in upcoming days, but why not initially? Anyways... Hope other devices will also get support for this application
Completely agree. I am loyal to the Symbian handset, and struggle to see why handsets such as the N86 8MP have been overlooked!
So this client was built with touch screen support in mind. If you are using any of our S60 5th edition devices the client will probably work well.
Our client was built in three parts:
Homescreen plugin
S60 C++ Engine
WRT UI
We have little to no problem porting the Engine part to any device but the Homescreen plugin is only for the N97 series.
Now here is where we run into the real problem. When we investigated using our application on devices such as the N86 and N95 the browser crashed a lot due to our javascript and the experience was very poor. The newer devices work fine because they have updated browsers, but the older browsers had significant issues. We probably could have gotten by all these issues given a large amount of time, but we just did not have time to do that.
Also the navigation experience was completely built for the touch screen. It would be a lot of work to convert it to work on non touch screen devices.
For these reasons, there will be a client coming for the 3.2 devices but it won't be the exact same code base as our client.
