I would rank this much higher had we been given a choice to install the application on the mass storage drive. I love the application and find it much better than the default facebook app available on the N97. Less issues installing and using as compared to Ovi life.
But alas, as C: drive space is a premium I must save it for the apps that I find absolutely necessary. This app is not one of them.
Surely you shouldn't mark it down if it's not one of your "must have" apps? If you do a hard reset of the phone you'll find you have just under 50MB of C: space available so you may want to give that a go.
The problem at present on the N97 is that the C: drive (phone memory) is only c.73MB in comparison to c.133MB in the N95 8GB. All the new apps appearing from Nokia for the N97 are limiting installation to the C: drive (phone memory), which I accept can have it's free space increased to over 50MB with a hard reset, but here is the issue:
Nokia Messaging - c.3MB
N-Gage - c.7MB+
OVI Maps - c.7MB
OVI Contacts - c.2MB+
OVI Lifecasting - c.3MB+
Nokia Messaing - Social Messaging Beta - c.3MB+
Note how you C: drive starts to shrink. I also have to add that all of the above apps can only be installed on the C: drive (phone memory) and when the C: drive free space drops below c.20MB the phone becomes unstable and apps start crashing out. This is a known issue.
Now lets do the maths:
3 + 7 + 7 + 2 + 3 + 3 = 25MB
50 - 25 = 25MB
That's getting prestty close to the 20MB and I have a feeling that I have underestimated the space requirement on some of the above apps as I just going from memory.
Also forgot to mention the Java beta.

Yes it will give more memory but do I really want to go through all of the steps to reinstall my applications? Nope. And as a power user I can accept that this is my choice. But what happens to the non-power users? The general public that buys and installs and doesn't look into the guts of the machine? They get upset, claim the device is poor, and go by the toy known as iPhone.

That's it and I only have 18meg left after removing cache and dmgr folders. There is no way to install these apps onto the mass storage and as I don't want to reinstall by doing a hard reset.....
Yea...eats up too much memory....
I am from Maputo, Mozambique and I got this phone a week or 2 ago...and jus tested out the new app...
it quickly started saying please erase...memory low...
app looks great tho...
I actually bit the bullet and did I hard reset today. It took me 3 hours to rebuild everything, I lost connectivity between PC Suite and Ovi Suite for reading and sending messages, but I am happy. Why? Because I went from 18 - 20 meg of free C: drive space to 40 meg! And that is after reinstalling MFE, HandyTaskman, and Maps 3.03 beta. I still need to install Quick office but that takes up only 4 meg.
Now that I have all this space will I install Nokia messaging? Not likely....I just don't need it.
Thank you for reporting this problem. We are working on the option for installing the application on E: drive and also looking to reduce the application memory footprint.

I do too like it.. As the others have stated is that there should be an option to install on E-drive or even the optional memory card you can add to the N97.
The application looks neat. Easy to use. And I also look forward to the other features for facebook and other social networking services that you will add to it :)

Not bad, just a bit buggy, and even without all features it lags a bit, even on typing. If they could like mix both the stock fb app's consistency and this one's more elegant approach, then it would be better. I like the part where it says 'via Nokia Messaging'.
