We are working on adding notification support. Don't worry, it is an important feature of Facebook and we have no plans on leaving it out.

I think he means for facebook notifications. He wants notifications of for instance when someone comments on your status to be pushed to the device

Estoy de acuerdo con lo que han dicho, mientras la aplicacion no tenga disponibles las notificaciones de facebook no sera la mas eficiente, es incluso mejor descargarse el bookmark que te dan en la pagina y verla desde el browser de tu celular, alli si estan disponibles, por lo demas la interfaz me parece excelente y muy bien trabajada, sigan asi!!!

I know I'm a bit late in the day but I agree, the one that came with the N97 originally I stopped using and went back to the m.facebook as I had the notifications which are needed to use Facebook correctly!

I am sorry but I do not think even our official release is going to have notifications. I will talk to our management team and make the case for it though.
Good news. I was just informed that notifications are indeed on our roadmap.

As far as I know notification support will not be in the next beta release, but will be included before the product goes out of beta. This is all up to how management decides to prioritize the rest of our tasks really.
Thanks for include the notifications in the roadmap. It's almost the unique thing because I have to go out the app and visit the facebook web page =)

I love Communities, it has a lot of promise, however I used it only a couple of times because it does not have the Notifications and thus renders it useless.
How do I know if I have had a reply to a post that I have done, or comments on someone elses comment/photo? It's just easier to use the web.
Please can you put the case forward to the Management team for Communities to get it included into the next beta so that more people use the Communities client so you will end up with more feed back as I'm sure that I am not the only one put off by the lack of notifications

The next beta is coming out very very soon so unless something very drastic happens it will not be included. I do not know when/if there will be another beta but I will let management know this is a hot item.

Used the new beta (installed Mar 26, 2010) and I agree that Notifications are a must. So far, I like the app but it's really slow startup, comment posting, etc.
It's still far from http://touch.facebook.com in speed. But keep up the good work.

I can just agree on that point too.
I suggest also a better load of images (maybe the application could keep in the phone memory the last images loaded, in order to reduce the traffica data?)
Notifications and better handling of images are already in the pipeline.

Maybe I'm missing it, but would be nice if there was a clear indicator for Notifications in Facebook. For Example, if someone comments on my Status, at the moment there is no pop-up or notification (that I have seen).
If its already present and I'm not looking in the right place, please let me know

The MAIN feature of Facebook is notification, and neither Communities or the Facebook App have notifications! Step up your game or I will not be using a Nokia and will not recommend one to anyone!

When I use Facebook of Social Networks, I do not receives the notifications. Also the Twitter and Facebook news are not pushed to my phone as you say on the software features.

It would be great if this would include Facebook notifications, or at least integrate with the email module of Nokia messaging to grab the Facebook email notifications (the way the FB app for Blackberry does it).

It's been months and still no Notifications support for both the Facebook and the Social apps. I find it unbelievable for Nokia to take this long in adding Notifications when it is one of the most important features of Facebook. You guys are really lagging very far behind – Android, iOS, and Blackberry OS already have PUSH NOTIFICATIONS which is a wonderful feature. I didn't want to have to compare because I know that you guys are swamped but I've been a loyal customer of Nokia for 10 years and I'm extremely disappointed that a high-end device such as my N8 lacks a feature as simple and important as Facebook Notifications.

My feelings exactly, I had Nokia's for 11 years and after Nokia canned this app for the N97 I had enough... That's why I changed to a HTC running Android... Best decision I ever made, I now have a lot better app than Nokia ever provided, it's fast, don't crash as much as the Nokia and actually has a decent amount of Memory (N97 Flagship lmao)
Change to Android or another make of phone.... Nokia does not give a damn about customers who have already purchased there phones, they only put the new features on the new phones that come out the month after to force you to part with more of your hard earned cash
