Hello world,

I was an early participant in the the beta trial of Nokia eMail, which I liked very much.

Unfortunately with the second beta release you removed the possibility to manually provide username and server addresses and from then on Nokia eMail would try to automatically detect those details from the eMail address provided.

Since the username of my POP3-mailbox has nothing in common with my eMail address and since my POP3-server is reachable only by [domain].[tld] (no subdomain for "mail", "pop", "smtp" etc.), Nokia eMail stopped working for me in a very early stage of the Beta trial.

Several of my comments on the Beta blog indicating this problem were unanswered. Now the service has been commerically launched and it still excludes a lot of people, who are not using one of the major eMail providers and so Nokia eMail can't detect their usernames and server addresses.

Wouldn't it make sense to allow users provide all those required account details manually instead of using that limited automatic detection only?

reagards,

Christian
