ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Nokia messageing does everything it claims to do, but the e-mail software addition for the N95 8Gb seems somewhat redundant when the N95 8Gb come with e-mail support as standard out of the box within the messaging menu.
UPDATE:
Following a period without using Nokia Messaging due to anumber of issues I had with it post initial review:
1) Unable to set-up main e-mail account as Nokia Messaging only permits auto set-up and not manual set-up (main e-mail account is working fine within standard N95 8Gb e-mail app.)
2) Inability to have hotmail account setup.
I have now re-installed Nokia Messaging due to finding out about the new version. This version now supports Hotmail and I have found a way of semi-manual e-mail set-up enabling me to set-up my main e-mail account on the Nokia Email website which is then uploaded to messaging. A bit messy but we are there now.
I am loving the ability to sync all e-mail account is one go rather than separately with the default app (which can do a degree of push-enail / automated e-mail retreaval). What I am really liking is the UI which is much better than the default e-mail app.
The following would be nice though (I realise this is a graduated app such that the development team may/probably don't look at this forum anymore. (Graduated apps are no longer supported via BetaLabs).
1) Give "send and receive" a "Customize..." option like "hours" already has as I don't wan't "Soonest" as this means too much battery drain as I assume this is constant checking, but every hour seesm like quite a long period. I would probably default to every 30 mins or something.
2) Manual setup without having to result to workarounds would be nice.
3) The final and idea mod would be to merge some sms, mms etc. into it or it with the standard messaging app such that it could take over. I'm sure this will happen at some point int the future, but will probably come embedded within a new phone.
