About 7 photos thumbnailed so far in 45mns of the application running. Pretty lame because, for those pictures that do load fine, it's a pretty neat tool!
Be patient, it took my phone a few minutes to find the dozens or more pictures that I have. Search is also limited to the "user" pictures, so if your pictures aren't in those directories (specified in the blog post), they won't appear. This is nice as it prevents system icons from appearing as they do in the default Gallery application.
On my phone the initial thumbnail took a few minutes, however when i restart the app there are randomly missing... just grey squares. Every time I run the app, the images which appear with thumbnails and which are grey is completely random.
Hi Stlpaul,
The thumbnail generation starts for the image you're selecting -- instead of top from the list. This will probably explain the phenomena, if you were moving the grid while the thumbnails are being generated. Once all the thumbnails are there, I suppose you won't have the random gray boxes.
I appreciate the comments above tglaab. By photos not loading however, I meant the thumbnails and the ability to view the photos when clicking on them. Originally when I first started the application, about 5 thumbnails came to view, all my other genuine pictures were grey boxes. Clicking on the grey boxes would not even show the actual photo, just a bright white screen representing what should be the photo. I played around quite a bit on my N96. Despite leaving the app running for quite a long time, no more picture were rendered in thumbnail mode and so I gave up on that. Instead, I found that the grey box following the last rendered thumbnail would always allow me to see the photo -but not subsequent grey boxes. I found that by viewing the photo, then exiting and restarting the photo browser, would allow after a few seconds for this photo to be thumbnailed properly. Once done, I repeat the process with the next in line grey box and I have now successfully rendered ALL thumbnails. Obviously, it's only good if you don't have too many photos (I have about 30) as it would take quite a long time with a large batch of pictures.
Once I got all my thumbnails successfully generated, I stopped the application, took one fresh photo and found that, when restarting photo browser, the photo would be properly thumbnailed, no problem. However, if I take more that one, only the first one taken would be thumbnailed, and I would have to repeat the process above to get the second one.
It would seem the process thumbnailing the photos stops working but can be kickstarted again -on my N96 anyway- on a single photo basis, one after the other. It's strange, perhaps to do with the processor not being powerful enough to handle it? Not sure...
I find that if I wait a little while once the application is started, all the thumbnails appear. If however, I start browsing through right away, some photos won't appear (grey boxes). It looks as though it takes a while for the application to fully load all thumbnails and using it before the process is complete causes it to cease updating.
Great little app otherwise...

please read the no 6 question.
I did see this post which does not, unfortunately, offer any real explanation or suggestions: just possible reasons which would be valid on every phone I suppose.
At least, it somewhat works with the workaround I added earlier which is good!
I'm using a N95-2 V30.0.018, RM-320 the first time I load the app It worked properly, did not test all functions but did the job. However upon loading the app the second time, about 25 of 50 photos, failed to load, only displaying grey squares in the preview and does not open the files, I verified the photos were still viewable.
I was able to resolve the problem by deleting C:\data\photobrowser.db
Reopened the app and all was well.
On my n96 it doesn't work either, there is some kind of render problem. I found out that when you keep following the renders (so when a row is rendered and you follow the screen to the right it keeps rendering the images. as soon as you stop folowing the pictures and open a picture and go back the rendering will stop and blurry thumbnail will stay blurry. Photo's that you open wont be rendered sharper either. when you keep folowing the render and it finishes all 400 pictures then it is impossible to see a sharp picture to. he simply doesn't render the big pictures.
And one last thing. when the screen goes to screensaver i lose all my thumbs and every single thumbnail is grey.
Its a very nice idea and its awsome especially when you have 400 photo's like me on your phone! You can search throught very fast and it even works fast.
To bad the pictures aren't rendered properly! and too bad that there are no options, like sort, delete, rotate, post to web, send etc. etc. Maybe in a month they will fix it for the n96 and then if they asked me they could replace this app with the standard picture viewer who is terribly slow.
I really hope they will soon fix the render problem for all n96 users! half of my pictures are not showed and are grey.
@ ericldn .... im sure your work around works great m8 but im NOT going to do this with 400 pictures! that will take me like half a day everytime i make new pictures!
When will there finally be an update?? its a great idea but it just dont work for n95 and n96. Come on guys get a move on!! competition is deadly. Iphone allready has thousands of insane good looking and fine working apps!
Whats taking nokia so long? Just selling phones isn't working nowa days!
My photo browser will only load pictures taken by the devices camera. It won't load the entire download gallery no matter how long I leave it on. I have an N97.
