[5800 owners] Touch or non-touch

Hi,If you are 5800 owner, have you also had a chance to try the non-touch version with some other devices? If yes, we'd like to hear how you felt the difference.It has been my observation that the satisfaction level is much higher with the touch version.This is despite there is no much difference both in terms of the functionality and speed. Then what could be making the difference?Is the touch screen something critical for delivering the "fun"? How is the feeling of touching-your-photos? Did you feel any advantage with the non-touch version?Did you have different goal in mind as you launch each version?I'll make this discussion a sticky post over the weekend. Looking forward to hearing your comments.

I only tried it on a non touch for half a minute, but immedaitely felt that my 5800 was the right decision.

The touchversion is much more fun by shooting pictures around with just a fingers strike.
the 9.4 version seems to be even faster than the 9.3.

Possibly the non-touch version is very nice for people who are used to keys and games.
But as I am used to touchscreens since the the era of the first Palm-devices, I really enjoy the touch version.

sorry im in miami for the weekend an im responding over cell phone. So ive used both 5800 an n85(filling up pictures here in miami hehe). So when i get back to california ill have the 5800(gave to lil bro) so this way ill give a full hands on report.

i've tried it on my friend's n95, really the experience was definitely not as satisfactory as in the touch version for my 5800. This application was designed with the view of touch interfaces and its future clearly is better in sticking to touch based s60v5 (or symbianfoundation too).

Non touch, not really.

Here's my thoughts about some of your questions;

--- Firstly, for a mobile device, i think touching the object on the screen instead of pressing buttons makes the user experience less virtual; user does not have to think which button to push; just sees "things" and touches them , and (depending on the touch response speed) thus, it is way more fun.

--- Touching the photos feels like playing with toys on a desk, it makes the 5800 experience better, and more joyful i think

I think this software is a milestone for nokia's touchscreen experience since it focuses on joy and fun, which is directly related to its interface...

Thanks all. I suppose the message is very clear that the touch version is offering something that non-touch doesn't. This is a critical learning in our experiment.

Devices used 5800 & n85.
Here is my review given for the 5800 to give an idea at where i stood at initial release http://betalabs.nokia.com/forum/topic/1681

After a while of use i do not feel more differences but more similarities which makes me happy and should make the team proud.

The consistent use of 3 images per row, this is also a point i want to raise that stays consistent with share online with the 3 image row.
No key images, keeping the same user view experience and retaining the screen real estate.

Although it it quicker to flick through images on a touch device, so possibly the addition of nave wheel can bring the experience closer.

The only fault is the image detail/left soft key use. Its still stale, till further development.

Other point raised in another thread will be the over MANY images how it will be to stream through the pics is still left in question for both type of devices.

Final conclusions bravo to the team for keeping such a similar user experience.

This seems to work faster on 5800 and thanks to the bigger screen, more thumbnails are visible at once. Also, the kinetic scrolling is a pleasure on touch screen.

Image Exchange is a better browser on the non touch devices. I does not waste scree real estate for empty spaces between thumbnails and zoom with effects look much nicer.
