Suggestion for Nokia Photo Browser

This would be a very interesting feature if added. The main idea i have is, when the app starts, it shows us all the folders inside the Images folder, including any images in the images folder. we may go into these folders to view images inside. the necessity is for better classification, instead of having everything in one place, maybe we want to have wallpapers in one folder, and view camera pictures separately, and so on.
In my personal experience with this application, i have realized that sometimes it becomes very difficult for me to find a particular picture. maybe we could include the current view style and ALSO incorporate a folder view style, would really help keep things simpler...
What say guys?

Wouldn't mind having this feature, but only as optional. The current view should stay as an alternative.

The fact is, the more complex the application get, the more /junk/ images we will be seeing in out galleries: I have only just figured out a way to keep my ringing tones from playing randomly in the music players; If I have a web page on my SD card waiting to be FTPd, every page element will show up in the gallery, if an application installs JPEGs of GIFs on my SD, they will show in my gallery... Not to mention sound recordings that randomly play in the music player -- potential for embarrassment!

I would very much like to see that there is a way to limit gallery programs to given folders only, to keep the junk images and junk information from my galleries.

The best solution would be to alow the user to specify a folder and then let the user decide whether to show all images in that folder only or to show images in subfolders also.

Could you please explain how you managed to do that? It tricks me everytime when it starts playing my ringtone or message tone when I'm just listening to "all my music" randomly.

It has been said and I can't remember where that if you browse to yuor ringtone folder on your phone via a PC browser you can set the ringtone folder as a "system" folder and this will stop the files popping up in the music player. I have not verified this, but this is what has been suggested by a Nokia phone user (non nokia staff). You can try this at your own risk.

IMAGINARY.FRIEND, NPB only reads from your "Images" folder in the phone memory and SD card.

Anyway, this seems to be a popular demand.
Folders / tags are off course one solution.
But maybe there is a better and fun way to do it.

So, what is the key demand behind having the folder in a photo viewer?

Is it because you want to view the same group of images together?
Is it because you want to get junk images out of your sight?
Is it because you want to set some privacy limit so to make the on-screen sharing easier?

ok here's the deal
One of nokia's competitors have a very simplistic gallery approach. when we open images, we can classify them as folders, with a separate folder for camera-clicked pictures, and custom ones, like for animations, wallpapers, maybe some devotional pictures, some cool big pictures which we just found on the net and decided to store on the phone, etc etc. Viewing all of these in ONE SINGLE big 3d world, its a real PAIN to scroll back and forth between so many pictures, trying to find the right one.

This feature is also available in the default 5800 gallery too, but it does not detect folders, we have to make folders within the gallery and classify them. no physical moving of the files, instead its just classified for viewing. This is NOT what we want!

So my suggestion, not suggesting to copy that style, but as an OPTIONAL view, since some people prefer the current all-in-one view, maybe NPB can incorporate a similar folder view procedure. Optional ofcourse, meaning we can decide whether we want folder view or normal full view of everything in images n subfolders. In the Folder View, we get to first see the SUBDIRECTORIES of the images dir, and then the pics that are in the Images directory itself. Going into directories, we can see the pics in that directory. This would make general categorizing of pictures much more simpler for people(like me) who store a LOT of pictures on their phone...
And perhaps, having thumbnail size options so that we may view more/less pictures on the screen at one time, this would be cool too!

nkaneko, the main idea for providing these features is all of those three which you mentioned, plus what i've written above.

I hope that i've made myself a little more clear.

RageTek does raise a point.
NPB does read of our "IMAGES" directory but this includes "CAMERA" then the rest of the directory which tends to be filled with downloaded images.

Hmm, so now it looks to be tricky.
Should NPB just read Images/camera? But then again users download pics of others, but also other various pics that are not intent for photo sharing. Im curious does NPB read .gif pics. I download alot of funny .gif pics but i rather not have them shown on NPB not because of privacy but just its not its place. Then again the mention of wallpaper comes to mind an them sorts. Directory Images/camera so far looks the better choice.

Maybe there should be an option for which folders to look in for pics. the display could be like the thumbnail display of folders were you go in to a folder that you'd like to see. everything could look just like it is now, but with display of folders.
