Distance is not calculated properly

I have installed Step Counter on my N96 (to mass media storage - internal flash) and being tested this application for several days. However it seems that distance is not calculated properly: I set step length to 60 cm and for some day steps count of 13107 program says that overall distance is 11.39 km. Probably, there are some problems in saving application settings or distance calculating.

yes, incorrect distance calculated. report yesterday 7840 steps x .75m step lenght should be = 5880 m. Step counter shows 6.56km :)

also have the distance calculated incorrectly on my n95 have step length to 75 and 4089 steps comes out at 3.53 km when it should be 3.06 km

Tried changing step length to 35 instead of 75 but didn't affect the (distance : steps) ratio seems that there is a constant factor used, when it should look at the the step length.

I have commented on this previously in post 10 on the original blog.

"3. Step length: go to Settings -> User and enter your Height (in cm) and Weight (in kg), and a default Step Length is calculated for you. You can override it and enter your own value if you want. The Step Length is for moderate pace. The algorithm actually adjusts your step length according to the step rate, so if you walk fast, or run, the estimated distance and energy expenditure are updated accordingly"

We are well aware that the distance can be inaccurate. Realistically, I think the best we can hope for is that the estimate is within +-10% of the true value.
