Energy consumption is currently shown in calories (kcal) even when metric units are selected. The metric unit for energy is Joule (J), and the appropriate scale in this case probably kilojoules (kJ). The kcal/kJ selection could be a separate item in the settings, for those people (unlike myself) who are used to counting calories and don't want to change their mental model of "how much is much".
