July 28, 2010: Ovi Calendar 1.6 beta trial concluded

Ovi Calendar 1.6 went live at the end of July at http://calendar.ovi.com and a lot of your feedback has gone into strengthening the commercial launch offering and in shaping future releases.  Support requests should now go through normal customer service.

In today’s world, most of us don’t keep a calendar anymore – we keep many calendars:  a personal calendar, a family calendar, a work calendar and more.

Ovi Calendar 1.6 updates the Calendar web experience to help you manage your calendars, notes and to-do items more effectively and coordinate more easily with those close to you – helping you make the most out of your time.

To start using the Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta, visit http://calendar.ovi.com and sign in with your Nokia Account.  Once you have started using it, please help us by giving us your first impressions in this brief survey.

If you are a current Ovi Calendar user, your existing Ovi Calendar data will be imported for you to use in Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta.  Please note, though, that if you make changes with Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta, you will be changing this data.

 
Key Features: 

• Create and edit multiple calendars on the Calendar website to more naturally organize the different aspects of your life (e.g. Family, Friends, Work)


• Create and edit notes and to-do items and associate them with calendars or group them into new categories you create


• Share calendars and their associated notes and to-do items with your family, friends or colleagues using the Calendar website and sync the shared items to your devices

Device Support:

The Ovi Calendar 1.6 release has been designed to update the Calendar web experience.  You can access this experience on your device by visiting http://calendar.ovi.mobi or visiting http://calendar.ovi.com on devices with a full html browser.  (Note: The mobile web site allows for viewing of your calendar events, notes and to-do items only.)

The ability to sync multiple calendars from the Ovi Calendar website to your device’s calendar application will be supported on upcoming Nokia devices, such as the new N8.

Known Issues:

We are currently experiencing intermittent problems with device synchronization of Calendar data.  Affected users will receive an error message that says, "Sorry, we couldn’t retrieve your device's information. Please try again."

While they are affected, users will be temporarily unable to synchronize calendar data to their device or add a new device for synchronization.  We are aware of this issue and working to fix it.
