Still Gets Disconnected

Ovi Contacts is being launched in my country (Venezuela) as a new service from Nokia. It being advertised, wich I find excellent. BUT my Nokia 5800 gets disconnected. Also my friends get disconnected using whatever model they have.

This bug has been reported a lot of times. This beta is no longer a beta in Venezuela anymore. It has been a late launch, considering that 8 of 10 users have switched to blackberry because of their messenger. BB Messenger works and is always online (even if the user wants to get disconnected it is imposible).

I don't use BB (but i have). It's very frustrating to check my ovi contacts to find it got disconnected or that my buddy list is full with disconnected people... PLEASE TAKE ACTION once and for all.

It happens with all the operators and all the models that I have tested and configured (N82, E51, E71, N95-1, N95-2, 5800 XM)

I'm from Venezuela too, y de pana es una ladilla!! pero no me cambio a Blackberry even is the last phone in the world!! I still got hopes de que mejoren la vaina, y le incluyan transferencia de datos y sound clips. Lo mas arrecho de todo es que lanzan la vaina con bombos y platillos y ni siquiera puede permanecer conectado. Toy con movistar, y en EDGE o 3G se cae iwalito, q arrecheraaaaaaaaaaaa

Vitaliano, FC Bobby, thanks for using the app.

Let me assure that we've taken action this. We actually took the trouble of going from Finland to Venezuela to check this one out. Seriously, we visited your beautiful country.

Now we understand the problem. We didn't in the past, and that's why it was so difficult for me and the team to understand why you see this issue. Problem is related to the TCP level keep-alive intervals in the networks. In different operator networks there are different timers. That will break the connection sometimes in our app. This is why we had some issues in one of the networks in Venezuela.

We've received reports however that the new 1.5 release is working better. Could you please double-check if this is the case for you?

Hey Kristian, it's great to know that you're around the neighbour again :) i can really note that the Nokia Staff are investing a lot of time and resources in the Ovi services here in Venezuela.

I know exactly what you mean, and yes...the 1.5 version for my nokia 5800 really goes much better in connection stabiity, is doesn't drops anymore (except in areas with no signal), i'm really happy for it.

A detail would be that everytime I get to a wifi area saved in my cellphone it switchs automatically to it, and when i go back to the street in doesn't connect anymore automatically, you have to do it manually.

I must add (as I made in other topics) the send voice note or sound clip to other devices from my Nokia 5800 to every other devices (PRE-FP1, FP1, FP2 and Gtalk users -pc or mobile-) and the file transfer service are two really things wanted by the ovi contacts comunity, it could be our christmas gift! hehe :P.

I Must say the known bug about or gtalk mobile contacts, that appears offline (but you can talk to them anyway, but you have to guess if they are online or not) I happens only when they are connected on a mobile client, when they're connected via pc, everthings it's ok.

I didn't know you came to Venezuela. Next time, please take some time and visit my city Maracaibo, and let me know to take you on a trip.

It works a lot better now. But, some times when I loose connection with the network (mostly because there are some locations with poor signal quality), and then go back to an area with good reception, the program shows that it's reconnecting. But it doesn't get connected anymore.

I have to disconnect manually and then reconnect it.

Hello, I'm from Venezuela to!
I have the same problem with the E71 but the only version avalible for my phone is the 1.09...
I was wondering when a new version is going to avalible for my model?? Thanks!!
