In contrary to the screenshots, the message layout on the E71 is quite ugly (just a white background).
This should be at least be set to the default layout (like it is in the IMPS-chat application that is included in the device).
Thanks.

Yes, the message layout unfortunately in the S60 3rd Ed FP1 (e.g. E71) products is uglier than in the S60 3rd Ed FP2 procucts (from which the screenshots have been taken).
Thanks for the comment though.

Are there plans on changing that (a bit)?
I actually prefer the minimal layout on the E71--it leaves room for more text.
I don't suppose the text window you're using is basically a web browser that could then be themed using CSS? (Like adium for instance), if that could be done with a minimum of additional code bloat that might make more people happy.
@diane: This is kind of what we do in the S60 3rd Ed FP2 client. We've considered back-porting this to earlier devices platforms, but at the moment it seems a bit too much of effort for our tiny team.
@handschuh: Not at the moment, but that may change. What would you like it to be like?
@kristian:
Wow, I didn't expect to make any suggestions.
Here is one: I truly like the layout of the internal FP1 IMPS chat client. As it is also a symbian product, you may be able to get the sourcecode from one of your colleagues. It is very clean and does not waste much space so it would be satisfy diane too, I think. (If I could, I would attach a screenshot here)
Ok, I'll have a look. Thanks for the hint.
