Boy, there is a lot of comments in this forum. Well, once you have put it together I think you should ship this software right in the device firmware, as also should be nokia messaging.
No need for the user to download it, just put your id and start working. Also you should involve operators to help the users.

not sure where you're from but here in the UK the operators hate such apps, and they go as far as making nokia remove things like the IM application and VoIP that is already built into the generic firmware.
i think the best thing nokia can do is not put such things in the firmware and offer all these extra enhancements via the up and coming new download store. this can then lead to nokia limiting the number of product codes it has to have due to networks bastadising the firmware. these changes mean us users have to wait months for firmware updates after the generic version is released!

Its coming OOB with the new FP2 phones, along with the standby plugins. It was there in all the screenshots of the upcoming FP2 phones like N86, and i think the E series phones too.
The Contacts standby theme in the current FP2 phones makes me believe the standby plugin shall come to the current FP2 phones in FW updates too :D

Yes, indeed, we're putting it ready OOB (where applicable, not available in every network).
This is actually the reason for us slowing down the Beta labs updates too -- we've had to focus on getting it into a quality level that is ok for all users, and not just Beta labs audience (meaning that, we're very grateful as you are ok with less stable, but sw that introduces new features).
The contacts zone in the homescreen will make the experience more enjoyable - we hope!
