I have to admit I have not used the ovi mail for serious purposes until a few days. So, at a first glance it looks fine, but as a good beta stage product/services it has little things to improve and features to include.

On the email market the competition is very, very hard. No place for mistakes, so the cuestion is
what features Ovi Mail should have?

On the phone?
On the web?
Mail clients on Windows/Mac/Linux?
On the OVI Suite?

I am now using it, and I think there are some valuable features that can be added.

You strike good points, but i do question your remark towards email market competition. What is the actual market it is intended for? To better address your well raised questions.
I'll go an guess u have an idea what i mean, like 3rd world market, first time users......so forth,
Is it simplicity the overall target, then again we should receive a better target from ovi mail team.

It's a bit late now, but if OVI main had been aimed at mobile users it would have been nice if it used as many one press letters as possible instead of 3 push. ie.

O 3-presses
V 3-presses
I 3-presses
. 1-press
C 3-presses
O 3-presses
M 1-press

It is nice that it short though.

Excellent observation mbrett. Though since OVI was conceived more than an year ago, and OVI mail being a much newer concept, i doubt whether they would have though ot it then.

I wish they would register ovi.m . Things will become a lot easier then.

I was not the author of the idea of ovi competing in the email market. It was on the news. They also mentioned google as a competitor. I understand your point, but they are publishing new web services, and also planning on going after the netbook / laptop market.

If they have a web mail service, they have to get it very competitive, otherwise they should close it Don't you think?

1. "Always present actions":
The left panel behaves acording to the context. It is a clever solution, but there should be a few options that I would love to be always present, as
"New Message"
"Contacts"
"Folders"

2. "Select All" check box.
Sometimes you need to select all the messages at the same time to save time. The user should even be able to configure the scope of the action of this check box, whether it applies to all messages or only for those that are displayed.

3. "Reply, Reply all and Forward", at the level of the "Delete button".

4. Links to the rest of OVI services and user profile.

5. CoO, and Contacts integration with OVI Mail.
I don't like the idea of having yet another Address Book, when i already have it synchronized between OVI and my phones. I would like to have just one Address Book.
There are programs that let you synchronize Google Address Book with s60 phones, so this should be a priority.

6. Skins or themes. Even though i like the clean and simple way Ovi mail looks, it would be nice to have the chance to make some changes to it.

7. RSS reader, as an option on the left panel.

I think this was suggested somewhere else but it seems quite relevant to this Topic so linking OVI Mail with Share on OVI to be able to pick images from share on OVI and e-mail them through OVI Mail would also be nice.

My primary chat and email has been Y!, for a number of years. Now i'm using a little bit of other services from Gmail, Hotmail (and ugghhh), facebook... well, my point with this is that all of them include chat services straight from the web, one way or another.

The most easy to use is Y!, that includes the chat services on the same page that the mail is displayed, and also have a webmessenger page.

Taking that as an example, it could be another feature very usefull, for both projects: CoO and Ovi Mail.

It should work without disconnecting the phone CoO client.

My mistake vitalianogiannangeli, im aware it was announced in the press my intentions were to hear internal feedback from @hem.korubilli to better continue your suggestions and comments.

Ohh and i agree we should discuss,

(I prefer speaking only for phone & via web)

Concerning talks on the forum if the ovi mail page should contain other sectors of ovi services i disagree. It should be placed on our ovi login page with the rest of everything mashed up and from there to the individual pages.

Has anyone tried using ovi mail via s60 web browser, it was not mobile fitted(strange).
What i find more strange most of us/others not reported any feedback using an s40 based device. (too bad i can not)

@vitalianogiannangeli your suggestion about RSS is VERY interesting for future use.
If somehow a RSS organizer/feed system(similar to widsets or somehow integrated)with our ovi mail account that is web based, can be the factor that differentiates between the competition

Could this be used as a different version on e-mail notification to your phone?

e-mail notification via an RSS feed.

I do not know much about RSS feed my self, i only got into it with widsets and have been using it since. Besides that im a dummy at what is out there. Im aware there are many rss manager apps and services out there, but having one directly correlated with an email is a big advantage i suppose.

P.S RSS feed response is great in an email box that is set just for response, but think about it if its an email address for all other uses, it can than be a pain. So maybe recognize RSS, would be more simple feature to add.
