It's limited for s40 devices...., come on!!!, i would like to have an ovi mail, i use two s60 devices..., also i would like to be able to have an internet inbox, integration with nokia mail (that it was obvious to me..., and surprisingly not obvious to you), and pop3 capabilities.
If you really want to make ovi a gateway for internet services, you need to be focused on what people wants and need.
i´ve the same opinion.
ovi mail should get accessable for all nokia users.
it´s not the right way to exclude all the S60 members, i think.

It is possible to have Mail on Ovi on your S60 device. Try this once you have an Ovi email address:
Go to Messaging -> Options -> Settings and scroll down to Email
Select Mailboxes
Define a Mailbox -> Select Yes
Start the setup Wizard
Select IMAP4
Enter your Ovi email address (username@ovi.com)
Enter the Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.ovi.com
Enter the Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mail.ovi.com
Select your Access Point (I am using T-Mobile Internet)
Enter a name for your Mailbox (I use ovi)
Once this is complete, select the newly created mailbox -> options -> open -> Connection Settings
Select Incoming e-mail -> Security (ports) -> SSL/TLS
Select Outgoing e-mail -> Security (ports) -> SSL/TLS
Once this is complete, try to connect to your mailbox. Your user name will be your full ovi user name and email address (username@ovi.com).
Did you need an S40 phone to set that email account initially? If so, which phone did you use?

i have generally an ovi account. but i cannot use the mailbox with these settings.
while connecting to the ovi mailbox, i cannot login to the ovimail acc. my phone always ask for the
right username and password...
maybe it must really be activated with a S40 device to use it on a S60 device after.

I too was only able to sign-up using an S40 device (XpressMusic 5310). It doesn't seem possible to sign-up via a S60 device.
Of course, you still can retrieve your Mail on Ovi from S60 and S40 devices.
The point of my question was to confirm that u activated your account by using an s40 device.
So in a way thank you for your conformation.
Second i must ask, was your 5310 a branded device. AFAIK it is not possible on a branded device nor is it possible on the latest release 7510 @T-mobile, even though beta labs stated they would solve this issue.
The funny fact is that Nokia now owns OZ(the email & IM client on branded North American device) its still the same software.
I tried it with an n82 and failed, with an e71 and failed..., i use an ovi account, since nokia started nokia chat, i use it for contacts, notes, sharing...
Also, ovi isn't availabe from Nokia Messaging yet..., and there is no web client..., no access from pop clients ...
What i was trying to say was that if nokia wants to participate in the e-mail market has to do BIG TIME, not in a limited way... Nokia is saying they want to make a move against internet giants..., well they have to be a little bit more aggresive here if they want to accomplish something.

I have exactly same views as you have. Nokia needs to get up fast and running.
Also with Google/MS trying to compete for services space there is more reason to be fast.
I tried to add mailbox in Nokia mail with ovi details but it failed. It has to be activated from s40 device.
It's very strange to hear comments from Nokia like "Mail on OVI" is meant for different target group.
But I hope as said earlier , they will release it in Feb, we are in Feb already.

I did the workaround and got mail on ovi working on my N82.
I used my friends 5610 XM to activate my ovi mail account.
Then I deleted it from his phone, then I opened Nokia Messaging on my N82 and Add mailbox.
Hey that was done !!!
I think they will launch webmail soon, but not sure about support to s60.

When Beta Labs informed that mail on ovi was available via web, I tried it (mail.ovi.com), and it worked just fine. Today I wondered..., will it work with Nokia messaging?. And the answer is YES., I have just set up my email account with nokia messaging, and voila!, an OVI icon appeared on my phone.
That's the kind of integration that is expected in a service.

Have you noticed some issues with webmail interface? Speed? unreliable operations when we delete, reply mails?
Also I found with Nokia Messaging Mail on OVI has problems while sync.
I dont get mails pushed to phone, Sometime after doing manual sync also it doesnt show new mails.
I think they need to do lot of polishing before it can be said to be good product.
Lookind forward to your experience with mail on ovi with Nokia messaging.

I believe this issue is faced by many people using OVI mail on Nokia Messaging. Sync is not reliable.
I hope both teams(Messaging and OVI mail) will work to resolve this soon.
