No matter how you have an E71x configured the "Go online at start-up" (Yes, No, Always Ask) and "Network destination"==Internet, 3.0 will not use wi-fi in the phone. I've made sure the phone is connected through a nearby access point and communicating correctly with other internet resources. But the error always comes up "No internet connection. Select Options > Tools > Go online' to go online".....when that in fact, is what I did. As a result, there is no syncing available, licensing lookups fail(?), shopping, etc. don't work.
I presume this function works if Network destination is set to Operator or MMS, there would be better success.
With the increasing numbers of devices with wifi installed, the choice to use wifi over expensive data connections should be a priority in functionality for Ovi Maps, one would think.
