Maps 3.0 not installing on N95

I'm trying to install Maps 3.0 on my N95, but I get an error message that says "Cannot get enough information about the phone (3). No update info found for the phone (16). The phone appears not to be supported." And then it exits. Any suggestions? I'm connecting via bluetooth (and it seems to connect okay), and I have an unlocked N95 version 3 (U.S.). I've previously updated the firmware for the phone, but I can't find out the exact current version. BTW, updating the firmware last time wiped out my ability to have voice guided navigation (yeah, I didn't backup first). Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. Russ

Nokia Maps 3 is not compatible with N95. It is clearly mentioned on the Maps 3 page.

BTW, can you point out where it's "clearly mentioned on the Maps 3 page"? This is what the page says:

"Nokia Maps Updater and Nokia Map Loader 3.0 require Microsoft Windows XP or Vista.

Nokia Maps Updater requires Nokia PC Suite to be installed on your computer.

Maps 3.0Beta works with all Nokia devices based on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (see devices) except N96, where we have still known compatibility issues. S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 support coming soon.

MapsBeta on Ovi works on IE6 (Windows XP), IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 (Windows XP or Vista)."

Is the N95 considered the same as the N96? Is the N95 not based on S60 3rd Ed FP2? I'm assuming one of these is the "clearly mentioned" part.

As it known the N95 device running on S60 3rd Ed FP1!!! It is not same like FP2. Those devices which running on S60 3rd FP2 are for ex. 6210Navigator, 6220, N85, N96..

Go to the link http://betalabs.nokia.com/betas/view/nokia-maps-30-maps-ovi and read slowly:

Well, between all the exclamation points and underscores, you finally did answer the question that the N95 is not part of the supported handsets.

BTW, if you read slowly enough (maybe say the words out loud while you're reading it), you'll see that nowhere on that description does it say "N95 is not supported".

Since these are the betalabs, a little background knowledge is expected :) Though you have raise a valid point. There should be a list on the betalabs clearly stating the OSes of each phones. Rather, a list of which phones come with a particular OS.

I think this may be a good idea especially since Maps 3.0 was widely publicised and brought a lot of new people to Beta Labs (which maybe wasn't the best thing as the first version of Maps 3.0 had quite a few problems, more than any other release I remember). Maybe an FAQ section under the about tab or just a sticky here on the forums written by some of the more experienced users (possibly in collaboration with Tommi and the other Beta Labs staff) may be in order

I made this same point to Nokia within a couple of days of Maps 3.0 being first published on Beta Labs. It's good that this issue is now being acknowledged.

It is not clear enough what handsets are and are not supported, and it's easy to miss the statement that Maps 3 works on FP2 devices only - expecially as the issue of FP2 device support only is a relatively new one.

(This leads me to another point which I will make in a separate thread* - when do you plan to involve Fp1 device owners in the MAPS 3.0 beta??)

Thanks for adding FP1 and for putting the specifics about which handsets are and aren't supported. It will help more beta n00bs like me in the future.
