Used Maps 2 for 12 months. Just updated to Ovi maps. I have bluetooth GPS and Integrated GPS set for positioning in phone settings menu. I dont usually have bluetooth turned on. On maps 2 when starting app request to turn on bluetooth appears, if denied integrated GPS is selected. If allowed bluetooth GPS is selected. Convenient. On OVI maps with same phone settings bluetooth request flashes on/off too quickly to select. I usually use integrated GPS only resorting to bluetooth in built up areas. Now if have to enable bluetooth in posiitioning settings, then turn bluetooth on, then start maps. Inconvenient.

@MrDownchild: This is a known issue and was pointed out a while back. We have had noe beta and the full release since, but no change in this issue.

I had the same kind of problems with my N81. With the last version (3.01) when opening Maps for the second times I had a pop up dialog every seconds for BT connection. It is impossible for me to use the applications. Any suggestion on this (or workaround) ?

I have exactly the same problem as MrDownchild. Yesterday updated from Maps2.0 to 3.0 with Hard-Reset, firmware update from v30 to v31 and new formatted storage card.

But I can offer 2 workarounds:
1. Uncheck "Bluetooth GPS" in Positioning settings menu. Then Maps3.0 won't ask you to activate Bluetooth and will use internal GPS.
2. Before starting Maps3.0, switch on your phone's Bluetooth. Maps3.0 won't ask you to activate Bluetooth, but will try to connect to an external Bluetooth GPS. But if there is no response, Maps will switch back to internal GPS after a while.

I hope Nokia will fix this bug as soon as possible. Thanks.

To avoid this on my N81 I add the GPS device manually to the phone, via Bluetooth menu. (type the password if ask, like 1234, 0000) Turn the Bluetooth ON via the Bluetooth menu, everytime before start the Maps app! And finally Run Maps 3 with N81 (only external GPS device).

Hi again,

I just installed on my N82 (v31) the new Maps version 3.01 09wk26 b02 via Maps Updater. Unfortunatelly there is still the bluetooth problem which described MrDownchild in his post from 2009-07-04 22:58.
Can anybody tell me what has been improved with the new maps version?

Had the same problem like you guys, but jbytibidi's solution works.
Its okay for the time being.
Till nokia cares about the non-working GPS on 5800XM + the issue with the "great" OVI maps.

Hi,
I just updated Maps on my N82 to version 3.01 09wk44 and the Bluetooth bug is fixed now :-))
But unfortunatelly there is a new bug: if I try to go to "Options/Extra/Settings/Navigation" (I have a german version: Optionen/Extras/Einstellungen/Navigation) then Maps terminates completely (without any error message)
Has anybody else this bug?
