crashes on n96

Hi there nokia crew,

Ever since i installed nokia maps 3.0 i ask myself how have you guys tested this on a n96. because i cant even have a descent connect without getting kicked out of the program. thats not the worst part! the worst part is that there is no way to uninstall it!

a side of that since i installed maps on my n96 it slows down my phone and gives allot of crashes, wich most of the time result in automatic restarts. i did a factory default but that is not helping. I today (12-2-2009 dd-mm-yyyy) downloaded and installed the latest version to my n96. but its still the same. as soon as i connect no matter wich connection or wlan point, i instantly get kicked out of the program back to the menu.

Hope you guys come with a removal tool very soon! because its almost impossible to use the phone now!

Even im facing the same problems on my N96, nokia maps works fine without and internet connection but shuts down if WLAN is selected.

The following should work:

a) Delete the "cities" folder and "df" file from your phone

b) Start on nokia maps 3.0 (allow it to fully start up and then turn it off (this allows it to regenerate the "Cities" folder and "qf" file required by "Nokia Map Loader"))

c) Attach your phone to your PC in "PC Suite Mode", start "Nokia Map Loader 3.0" and re-download your maps and voice files.

d) Start "Nokia Maps 3.0" on your phone and go to "Options" / "Tools" / "Settings" / "Navigation" / "Voice Guidance" and select the voice file you downlaoded.

e) If it asks you to download it do this if not don't. Either way if you now start navigation you should hear the audio. And no more crash after c.20 seconds.

If it doesn't work and you want to return to Noka Maps 2.0, do the following:

a) Delete the "cities" folder and "df" file from your phone

b) Delete "Nokia Map Loader 3.0" from your PC

c) Install "Nokia Maps 2.0" to your phone and "Nokia Map Loader 2.0"to your PC from http://www.nokia.co.uk/maps

d) Start "Nokia Maps 2.0" on your phone (allow it to fully start up and then turn it off (this allows it to regenerate the "Cities" folder and "qf" file required by "Nokia Map Loader"))

e) Attach your phone to your PC in "PC Suite Mode", start "Nokia Map Loader 2.0" and re-download your maps and voice files.

You should now have a fully operational Nokia Maps 2.0 again.

Hey folks, suggest you have a look at the "not enough memory to start application" http://betalabs.nokia.com/forum/topic/658.

Strongly recommend reading previous posts before posting, and adding to the existing thread where it exists rather than starting a new one.

It saves duplication, gets problems answered more quickly, makes answers easier to find as we have one thread per bug, and Nokia can work more effectively, as Kee only has to post his answers in one place rather than many - to the same problem.

It makes the forum a better place for everyone if we take care about how we use it. Thanks.

Hi and thanks! its now fixed and it works like a charm.

I only dont understand why people have to delete the map and qf file manually. if its a known issue why isn't it implemented in the installer, so that people dont start threads like me all the time!
