I installed Maps 3 onto my Nokia N82 a while ago, but never got it to work even after deleting the cities and qf file and all that stuff.
Now trying to get rid of it and revert to Maps 2, but everytime I try to remove 3 or replace it the phone states there is some sort of error ( usually something to do about maps being inbuilt??)
Was wondering if anyone could help me out with this as it is quite frustrating not being able to remove it

If it wasn't for restoring data issues, I would suggest reformatting using "three finger reset". As you don't mention which firmware version your N82 is running, I don't know whether you need to install later Maps release than that incorporated in existing firmware.
I am running V 30.0.019, I think this is the latest out there. I actually updated the firmware after installing Maps 3, could that be causing my problem?

It could be the user data preservation feature of N82 causing you problems here, I might have suggested carry out "three finger reset" followed by re-installing v30.0.019 firmware although there may be a more recent version of Nokia maps v2.0 available as you are not using latest v31.0.019
I faced the same problem.. kept showing errors when I tried to remove it.

Reinstalled maps 2.0 and replaced maps 3.0 in mobile.
removed maps 2.0 :D
