Install Ovi Maps 3.0 on N82, do I loose my favourites and saved places?

I have a N82 and want to install Ovi 3 following the procedure as described elsewhere in the forums by deleting the QF file and the Cities folder from my phone. If I understand it correctly, I can then install the new version but the big question is if I do this, do I loose my saved places and my favourites? I have all my personal and business addresses saved and I do not want to loose these.
Anybody know what happens to the saved places and favourites when installing the new Ovi 3 on a N82? Any work-around?

I installed OM3 over NM2 on my N85. I didnt have to delete the cities and qf files, and I retained all my favourites and saved places.
After many failed installs over the beta period, I had given up hope of ever getting a working OM3, but the recent update seems to have cured the problem.
One thing to bear in mind is that the N85 is symbian S60 v 3, so if the N82 is the same ,there shouldnt be any problems. It wouldnt hurt to back up via PC Suite just in case. cheers. Go for it! fwren

OM3 can not directly be installed on the phone using the map updater. The phone brings up the message that the application is already build in. This is a well known problem for the N82, many threads on this forum and the work around for this is to delete the Cities folder and the GF file. OM3 will then install on the phone but I am not sure if I do this if I will loose my places and favourites. I do not know where my favourites and places are stored. I also do not know if you can copy them back after OM3 is installed, If my places and favourites are in these folders, can I copy them back afterwards? Anybody knows?

You're favourites and places should be visible in Landmarks under Connectivity in Tools form the Main menu in your phone. As long as they are visible in the application (I can't think why they wouldn't be) they will not be lost during upgrade or downgrade.

i downgraded and upgraded a few days ago and as far as i can tell it had no impact on my saved places.

I have been trying to get it installed after I luckily made a full phone back-up. Finally I could get the OM3 to install after I had been fighting with all kind of errors in the maps updater. It finally found my phone after I deleted the Cities folder and the QF file but did not run Maps once. I then tried to run OM3 but the application quits sduring launch when the progress bar is about 50%. It only makes the cities folder but no QF file. Tried to install the maps but this was also not working at all, gave me the message that I need to run Maps once but this only completed the never ending circle since OM3 would not evben start. Did a hard reset of the phone and tried it numerous times but all ended up in OM3 quitting halfway during launch. Gave up after all and restored my back-up and all is working again with older Nokia Maps. I did not loose my Places and favourites during the installation of OM3 but it simply does not work. I will wait till Nokia comes up with a normal way to install OM3 on the phone, Tired of OM3. If anybody has any ideas what to try next to get it to work then please let me know and I will spend another half a day to get it going.

Nokia: please fix these issues and provide N82 users with a normal, fool proof way to install OM3. No messing around with deleting folders, hard-rest of the phone etc.

I've now updated my N82 to v35.0.002 but the problem is still there.
Nokia, please help!
