i have tried to install maps 3 loads of times. Just getting error18. Now have reinstallled map updater but it cant find my phone even though it is connected to pc suite and showing the connection is live. Any help with this would be appreciated.
Followed through the installation process using Nokia Maps Updater but only to get hit with the message "component is built in"? Has anyone managed to update n82 with nokia maps 3.0 without reformatting? If it's a genuine bug from the developers, when can we expect an update and how shall we know of it?
This is a known issue and discussed at length on a couple of other threads (see betalabs.nokia.com/forum/topic/680 and betalabs.nokia.com/forum/topic/648). It's a shame Nokia don't mention that before download. Many users have fallen foul of this - but I suppose as long as it's in beta they don't really need to - "beta" is a disclaimer in itself! This issue hasn't yet been resolved however if you are desperate and cannot wait for the next beta some users are reporting that a full factory reset of your phone allows the installation of Maps 3 beta - think backup and a complete re-install of your apps and personal configuration. Me, I'll wait for a fix!
Finally installed. Had to delete citiesfolder then do a hard reset and then the updater finlly worked. It does seem to be a rubbish way to get maps 3 onto an n82 but at least it did it for mine
I had this when I tried to revert to a previous version of Maps (V2.0 to V1.2) as was getting fed up of the poor performance. It seems to be a bug with maps V2.0 and a firmware update. I had no trouble when updating to V3.0 but had done the format process long before so I guess it is a one time thing.
I have tried to install maps 3. pc side was OK but phone dropped error#18 which means: built in feature cannot install
